ACH DU LIEBER !! Construction fail - server issue. Needs resta
rt at minimum
By: Bumbaloo Date: October 15, 2016, 4:07 pm

I built a square enclosure with reinforced concrete and steel
walls, settled firmly on top of the rock layer.
Today, I placed ONE frame block along the top of the wall and
the whole damn thing came tumbling down. This shouldn't have
happened. I've built this exact same foundation for Bumbaloo
Castle a dozen times before. It was a sight to behold, watching
the wall crumble in a circular fashion, although I had mixed
feelings considering it represented two days worth of work and
about a week's worth of resources.
I suppose the fact that I had to get rid of floating ground
yesterday and today should've clued me in that there was a
server issue and to stop building. But Bumbaloo has never been
accused of being smart. Farting, yes, smart, not so much.
I think the server really needs a restart or a kick in da azz.
What might be cool is to script the server to restart twice a
day - noon and midnight, perhaps. Eliminate these types of
issues right off the bat.
Also, is there any chance you guys can restore the town block
located at 2106 N, 776 E from yesterday, October 14, 2016? That
could save me a lot of time in gathering new resources and
rebuilding.

I just restarted the server. A script will help nothing. It had
been restarted only 7 hours earlier. It is restarted frequently.
If you start to have a problem with the server you guys need to
post here or better yet, send a PM. You need to ask h0tr0d if
you want an area restored as I do not know how to do that
anymore. Sorry.

Cookie Munchers Compound has been having numerous issues as
well. We had blocks falling that should have been supported,
and floating blocks that should have fallen but refused to obey
gravity. Logged in today and the whole northern part of the
forum seems to have collapsed.
Not sure what to do at this point. No reason to keep building,
or even fix the spot that has already fallen. Old structures
are staying intact. New builds are unstable at best.
I wouldn't doubt that our problem is once again --> lost
minibikes.

That sucks Bumbaloo! I've been hoarding materials and was
possibly thinking of moving everything south in a big base but
now I don't think I'm going to if the whole thing might fall
apart for no reason. Hopefully the devs can fix the issues
because I doubt just restarting the server more will do
anything.

I would tend to agree with you Cookie. I'm pretty sure we ran
into these issues during A14, before h0tr0d banned minibikes.
Even if he bans minibikes right now, I think the ones already
stuck in the world are messing with the game code somehow. May
not be fixable without a server wipe with minibikes banned
again.
Sorry to hear about your structural collapse too. That building
was standing for days, wasn't it? It certainly looked cool when
I came for a visit.
I lost a couple weeks' worth of resources when mine collapsed,
although it was kinda cool watching the "dominoes" type of
collapse. The walls started collapsing brick by brick going
around in a circle, from the top down, layer by layer.
It will take me a while to gather up enough resources and bake
up new cement, to rebuild, so maybe they'll be able to get to
the bottom of this by then.

Fastidious,
Yeah, I'd advise you to hold off on building anything in the
short term. Maybe h0tr0d will be able to fix the problem, but I
think it's prolly likely the server will need a wipe with
minibikes banned before it becomes stable again.

The Parthenon is still standing. Seems that anything built
before these troubles will remain standing. However, the newer
stuff is unstable. I have a big forum area built with
alternating white square and peach circle adobe blocks, lit
underneath with torches. Almost totally trashed now. It's not
zombies because I can see the residue blocks from falling debris
(and they were sitting on dirt, so they were all supported).
I'll basically have to redo the whole thing.
As for minibikes, Hotrod can go into underground ghost mode to
find the lost ones. The only problem is with a random gen map,
the area to search is pretty big. That's why he always wanted
to know the specific area whenever a person lost a bike in A14.
Maybe it's possible to delete specific items from the map
altogether.
Wipe at this point would be extreme last resort.

I want to add my vote to banning minibikes indefinitely. If the
code gets worked out to make them viable we can add them back
in, but I think we need to worry more about regular game
stability and not these vehicles we have had so much trouble
with in the past. h0tr0d can always increase the run buff on
coffee again or make a new consumable that gives a significant
speed buff so people can run around at warp speed. The only real
negative I see of not having minibikes is the added storage they
can provide. Stack size doesn't seem to be much of an issue but
the inability to carry a large number of unique items causes
inventory woes without having to loot all that many POIs.

I have a tree that's at 0 that won't fall down as well. Been
that way for days. I ended up just building my house around it
and it's actually looking nice to have a bit of a botanical feel
though. I thought I'd mention it anyhow because it's weird.

If minibikes are still falling through the world and causing
huge issues, then I agree. Lets perma ban these things until
they are 100% safe.
