       Please do not spread misinformation!

I am getting very tired of hearing people tell me I'm full of BS
when I tell them that you can break down cars, shopping carts
and ovens and it's legal to do. Yes, they are loot containers
but as Hotrod has stated: "There is no rule concerning them so
have at it." You can also buy Shopping carts from the shop and
spawn cars via gimme so even if you want to keep the landscape
intact then you can always just try to spawn/buy your own, but
please don't go around telling people that they can't simply
because you prefer not to! By the way, shopping carts always
drop mechanical parts. Thanks for allowing the rant, have fun!

Of course you can render parts from existing furnishings on the
map. I do it all the time. However, seems absurd to totally
destroy furnishings to get that little bit of fuel and a couple
pieces of scrap, or one mechanical part. Break em down to
almost gone and leave it for looting.
With the right skill upgrades you can now make springs and
mechanical parts. No reason to destroy the world. Zombies do
that just fine all by themselves.
Also, if you can buy shopping carts from the shop, why would a
person go around breaking all the ones that others come to loot?
And it should be noted that the car spawn on a gimmie must be
about .005%. I've tried to get a car at cookie castle through
gimmie, and they just don't spawn.

In answer to your question: because new players don't have the
kind of resources required to spawn or buy those items, the
point is that if you need it the option is available to you: and
besides some of the parts that you need to get to that point are
only available via breaking down parts. Again: The point is that
if you need it; it's legal. Also one last thing: not all
shopping carts are loot containers. The ones that have no food
in them (Like the ones at trailer parks) have no purpose other
than scrapping. Same with broken down cars.

True, and I agree. I wrench things all the time. Mid-game it's
easier to just build many of the parts but you still need things
like batteries, and engines. If I see a file cabinet or a car
with just a little structure left I always salute the one who
left it for looting. You can get the parts and still leave the
       lootable item.

I agree with both. You CAN destroy such items but it is better
etiquette to leave it just at the point where others can loot.
I don't blame new players for not knowing what the levels are on
various items and when a engine or just scrap is looted.
But it is more and more frustrating after day 100 when many cars
       and such vanish.
I am currently on a long journey into nowhere, on foot, just to
find an engine for a cement mixer.
       Peace and pancakes!

Etiquette aside, they can remove the cars.
I did intend for the center city to be regenerated; however,
players have built within the regions I would have to reset so
this has proven problematic. Next seed I will be more johnny on
the spot and provide x and y lateral l,imits to ensure I can
       reset the regions weekly.

Seems legit by most means. I never break anything down, even if
its for fuel since I saw that biofuel is craftable and I really
no need for fuel atm. My question is the scrap metal in
       wastelands....does it respawn or no?

One of the nice things about A15 is we now have NPC Traders and
users with Vending machines. When cars or other loot becomes
scare, save up coins and buy those parts from the traders. They
reset inventory quite often. I got half my chainsaw and all my
auger parts over time by the trader.
Be sure to click the "gun safe" icon when your browsing the
trader. Its at the top within the categories. This is reveals a
secret list of items based on your barter and "secret stash"
perks. Many players do not know about this and miss good items
       for sale.
