       Minibikes have been removed
   DIR By: guest215

There was a minibike that was lost wasn't reported and caused
the server crash this morning so I removed minibikes and left
       minibike parts in.
You can no longer place the chassis and create a minibike.
The other parts will have a use to be announced; as of now
batteries already do, as well as headlights.
/home has been reduced from 50 zcoins to 25 zcoins.
Coffee now gives a 10% run speed increase which is significant.

Any chance changing the waiting time limit for using /home
       again?
Also I support the removal of minibikes until better fixes
       released.

You can use the engine to make a cement mixer. I used to buy
them in the /vote store in order to raid the engine for that
       purpose.

The long cooldown on /home seems to be great. With a short cd
players port back home far too often, allowing them to
essentially loot in every direction as far as they can run in a
day and then /home back. Part of what makes this game special
is the sense of urgency one gets with trying to find safe haven
before nightfall, and with /home that urgency is gone. I for
one would prefer to have the command removed entirely but with
the current cd the abuse is much less than it would be on a
       shorter timer.
Just one small example of a shorter timer: A group (or
individual) runs out to a town in one direction, loots the
entire thing, and /homes back--or they continue going and just
hit major POI's getting multiple towns in a general direction
(then /home). Next day again, in a different direction. In a
relatively short time, everything within a very large radius is
gone and this action can be rinsed and repeated for as long as
necessary to attain the desired items. If you are set up near
0,0 that radius is essentially the entire gaming map. The one
saving grace to this is that we do have a short respawn timer (7
days) but that still doesn't fix the problem of players of using
the above method to completely strip an area of all resources
       every time they spawn.
Yes, it is possible for someone to loot an enormous amount of
POI's without /home but that requires one to set up cache dumps
(which requires running back eventually to get the loot) or run
home every night to drop said loot. Both are very time
consuming and ensure that if a player or group of players do
wish to ransack a large area they are going to be putting quite
a bit of time and effort into doing so.
Just my 2c. I would much prefer no /home at all because it
curbs issues such as the one mentioned above but also creates a
much more immersive gaming experience (instead of just power
gaming). Sort of like a player who uses a mining helmet in the
dark or stays inside when there is no light source available,
versus the other person who just turns their gamma and
brightness up and keeps on going. I prefer the former.

In just the short time that I have been back I have seen
countless issues arising from the bike concept, so I had already
determined not to bother with them.
As for /home, having the sense of play dynamic that matches the
dangers of the wastes has it's value. In other words you
shouldn't go out too far from home since you need to get back,
or you'll need to find a safe haven when it starts getting dark.
However, I believe "/home" is more of a functional feature for
those who can only be on for short periods. For instance,
someone who can only be on for an hour wants to maximize their
play enjoyment, while those you want immersion can just refrain
from using the feature. I personally like the immersion so I
try not to use "/home". Being stuck out after dark is something
you have to be aware of in the wastes. However, if I explore
across a lake, and will thus have to just hold down the "w" key
for like 10 minutes while my character slowly swims back (man I
hate swimming in this version), I'll port back instead.
Spending a chunk of my time swimming doesn't help my enjoyment
of the game, or create immersion. It's just boring. Also, if
someone stops over in RL, or I have to leave the computer
because I am already late for work, I can port home and be done.
People will always exploit, but you don't want to hamper the
enjoyment of others based on the possibility of exploit. With
the endless spawning map, a person can also always move to a new
place, or... just start a war and start shooting the loot
campers. That could be fun, assuming they are going into the
       PVP zone of course.

But that is exactly what it does. It also creates meaningful
choices--(such as) where will one choose to plop down a base, or
multiple bases? Gameplay is enhanced by meaningful choices. If
you don't want to run for 10 minutes, pick a different location
for your living space, or choose a location more near you to
loot/resource gather. If you choose to make a 10 minute run,
then you did so knowing you would have to make it twice. Some
people spend hours wandering around trying to pick the spot that
they feel is excellent; but with teleporting back that choice is
much less meaningful. Of course there will be varying opinions.
A big thing now in some MMO's has been to remove the
requirement to actually go to the entrance of an
instance/dungeon to run it, (some still require it the first
time). There have been voices on both sides vehemently arguing
one way or another. I don't expect everyone, or you to agree
with me; but I am definitely the type who believes the entire
group should meet up at the entrance instead of teleporting
       across the entire world instantly.

I rarely used the /home, I used it a few times due to bugs and a
few other cases due being lazy. But after I got a minibike, it
was exclusively used for bugs (in most cases they were caused
       due to the minibike...).
Due to the removal of the minibike, runs are much harder,
because not only does it take longer to travel, but you can also
take less with you. So if not for /home, everything would take
me like 6 times as long, and that itself is just anti-fun.

IMHO Grain Alc was always better than the minibike, and now that
Coffee is bumped 10% even better.
its also quieter, and way safer, whos ever heard of a guy
       running falling through the map
       ;D ;D ;D

Disclaimer: This post is filled with opinion
Something to keep in mind for you bikers out there. When you
have people going in all directions on fast moving vehicles it
causes a lot more chunk loading and especially terrain
generation in unexplored areas. This can cause intense lag
spikes for other users. I think some of you may be overzealous
in your desire to find unsearched POIs for loot. Instead of
traveling to so many locations in a day on your minibike you
could increase your immersion by planning shorter trips on foot
and fighting the small roaming hordes on the way. I usually
travel about 5 km or so when I make a run, but I personally
spend much more time building and hunting. I realize that many
of you may not have been around before the minibikes came along,
but keep in mind that we are WAY over the recommended number of
players on this server and sacrifices have to be made or we all
suffer. I have died on previous maps here due to people sharing
minibikes even though it is against the rules. That breaks the
game for me and others. At least you can make new shoes when
       they wear out.

I have been around before the minibikes came along. In fact the
majority of my ingame time is from before the minibikes. While I
agree with some of your points, I do not agree with your whole
       argument.
The thing is, before the minibikes came along, it was so much
easier to get weapons, tools etc. You would get 1 Sniper rifle,
take it apart, make molds and you would be mass producing Sniper
rifles. That's not the case anymore, we now have to make
countless trips to the cities to collect weapon pieces to get a
decent gun, because there is no other way, I can't improve
weapons without looting crates (for the most part). So
constantly looting cities/towns is a must.
I personally don't travel that far and I would mind either
fixing up a city/town to a 'woodbury', because I like living
close to other players, but others love to go in the middle of
nowhere, partially due to getting drops of their own.
