How long until a claim block is 'dead'?

Hey all. Fairly new to Ground Zero but loving the server. First
the question and then the explanation:
How long IRL until a claim block has no effect?
I ask because my friend and I mistakenly setup about 30-40
blocks from a tiny, wood house that turns out is claimed. In 5-7
real days I've never seen anyone come or go from there, and I'd
*really* like to pin a claim block on our structures. Cobble,
spikes, concrete, and really hours of work that might have been
wasted.
In short, do I need to move, can I wait it out, or is there
something h0tr0d and the others can do to grant us rights to
plant a claim? I can provide specifics to location if needed.

PM me coords as land claims may not be expiring as they should.
It is supposed to be 4 days offline and then they expire.

Do they re-activate if you stay offline for 4 days, then log
back in a couple days later? Or do new ones needed dropped down.

I don't think they reactivate I'll test with one of mine
starting today.
They certainly don't seem to be behaving as the .xml suggests
they should.
