twas the night before 13.5

Twas 6 days before Christmas; through the town I traversed,
not a zombie was stirring, not even a nurse.
The items were placed in the chests with great care,
In hopes that tomorrow they'd all still be there.
The players were huddled in fear behind walls,
Placing rebar frames which then started to fall.
One cowboy hat was all that they wore,
Add just one bandanna and their temperature soared.
When outside their bases arose such a clatter,
On scrap iron spikes the gore did now splatter.
Away to their ladders they flew like a flash,
Until they flew upwards and came down with a crash.
The moon on the breast of the desert's first snow,
Gave an eerie perspective on the carnage below.
When what through their nightvision goggles appeared,
But a miniature bike, though inverted I fear.
With a little old driver, not terribly bright,
for they'd shared their passcode...and were in the desert...at
night.
More rapid than eagles the errors they came,
Null Reference Exceptions, and more of the same.
"Gosh darnit my console is making me crash!
and I'm off to the forums where madmole we'll bash.
To the top of the list! to the top of them all!
Forget the search function, I can't read it all!"
Like the smokestorm behind which the burnt_forest hides,
Even though there's no entry in the mixer to find.
So to the Dev Diary the players they flew,
With the greatest of insights which were off-topic, too.
And then, in a twinkling, thirty pages went by
As all common sense was denounced and decried.
I drew in my head the circuitous route,
With which they did reason and clamor and shout.
Sunglasses and beard, he remained resolute,
yet his name was in orange, and lower case to boot.
faced with an onslaught he tried to explain,
Could he pass for a hipster with those glasses and mane?
Keeping track of the updates, alas I did fail
my efforts in vain and to no real avail.
So glad for the tracker that twas made by Deccypher,
5000+ hours...I may be a lifer.
No answer was found so back I did go
to reports on my server of a sun in the snow.
It seemed there was something that 13 had revealed
which caused all our eyeballs to shrivel and peel.
At first I saw nothing, then it came into sight,
easier to see than iron armor at night.
As closer the distance caused the glow did expand,
is there any terrain other than all this damn sand?
Back to the task, duties I would not shirk,
Sir Arthur C. Doyle would have gawked at my work.
Something so strange that would have most believe,
one player was guilty of nefarious deed.
Blindingly close to the source I drew near,
Dave, I'm so sorry, can't do that I fear.
Thus spake Zarathustra, words heard from afar,
It's not full of stars, it's just a damn spotlight.
