Food Is Free! Farm Co-op Idea
   DIR By: Lupa

       ---------------------------------------------------------
So Friday night's hilarity between MM and OF clans got me to
thinking. Well actually I had already been thinking about this
idea but Kal's thievery of the Old Fart's blueberries and
       potatoes clinched the plan.
We need some community gardens for co-op farming.
As one of the server's "Peace-maker" players (and I think the
only female) - I'd like to ask everyone to come together to
create a cooperatively built and defended farm that we can all
share the crops from. Since corn is so easy and plentiful (and
potatoes / blueberries secondarily) why not work out an area
that is open to all for planting and harvesting?
Centrally located on the map, I believe there's a couple of good
spots along the river or even east banks of Spillway Lake that
could work so long as no player has claimed those areas for
       their bases.
Take a look at the two blocks [-1,0] and [0,-1] on Madman's
       Regen Map here:
  HTML http://www.kamcraft.com/regen-areas.html
Give me some feedback if you'd like to participate in this
project and if you have a preference where along the lake or
rivers you think this could happen.
       1. NO PVP ZONE (peaceful farming only)
       2. Needs good perimeter defenses - so donations of wood, scrap
       etc would be needed
       3. A few community chests with hoes, seeds, repair and building
supplies that everyone can donate. (Donate your hoe! :P)
       4. Good Design. Here's where I'm clueless. I need some
above-ground defense pros to design this place. Nothing fancy,
but it needs to be able to keep the hordes from trampling our
crops. Any takers for an architect position?
Honestly this is just a fun project to give us all something
cooperative to do until the next updates and eventual server
wipe that will happen. No one really feels like putting a ton of
effort into their own base since we know wipes are going to
happen, so why not work on something cooperatively that's not
related to defense efforts against other players, but rather,
practicing good defense efforts above-ground against the hordes?
I figure, this will be a good learning project for me as I
haven't yet come up with any really good above-ground builds
that keep the z's out entirely without 5 layers of walls I have
       to repair constantly.
So who's with me on doing some farming co-op to practice keeping
       the dead-heads out?
       Much love,
       Lupa
       ;D

Oh and also - I've been reading the 7DTD forums about people
farming and how they do it. It's similar to minecraft in that
building 'rows' separated by water trenches is the ideal layout
       - but again, I'm not sure how to do that and would love to learn
from others on this - hence the other motivation to start this
       project.

As one of the servers warmongers, I'd say that missing crops
makes a good excuse to do to war. I hear there is a place down
in the desert that grows a nice little patch. :o
Then there is also that massive corn crib west of Diersville.
The NPCs are quite studious about keeping that one growing, and
for some reason they don't even need rows of water between their
crops. Must have some form of sprinkler system.
Which reminds me, I need to petition Madman for a recipe to make
       corncob landmines...

Well I just got some work news yesterday that's going to keep me
busy in the evenings this week anyways so maybe I'll wait to see
if anyone wants to do something next weekend.

A good zed defense for the farm would be a 2xdeep pit with trunk
spikes and then cobwebs around that -they wont get in and if
they do they fall to their death (if the pit is deep enough)
       Works for our base

Yes, the most OP defensive weapon in the game currently. Spawns
from empty storage boxes, and can be placed on the ground. They
can't be destroyed and Zeds get stuck in them. I'll be a sad
day when they get that fixed.
