       Man sentenced to death for murder of Upton Co. Sheriff's
       Deputy--
       Gary Green was accused of killing Deputy Billy "Bubba" Kennedy
       back in 2013.

       UPTON COUNTY, Texas — Gary Green, the man accused of killing an
       Upton County Sheriff's Deputy, was found guilty on June 17 and
       sentenced to death on June 26.
       Billy "Bubba" Kennedy was shot and killed in the line of duty on
       October 2, 2013. He was 38 at the time.
       Green was tried in Nueces County.
       The incident took place at Stripes Convenience Store in McCamey.
       Deputy Kennedy encountered a male subject and multiple shots
       were fired.
       The suspect, who is identified Gary David Green, is recovering
       from gunshot wounds at the hospital.
       We're told that Green has a long wrap sheet for drugs and
       fighting and he's no stranger to prison. In fact, he was out on
       parole when the shooting happened.
       According to court records, he's known as the "Pink Panther"
       Green.
       He's been arrested several times in the past for aggravated
       assault, possession of marijuana and DWI.
       In 2001, Green was behind bars in the Huntsville Prison in
       Southeast Texas.
