Spiritual altitude sickness

Hi Jed,
I did the spiritual autolysis you talk about in your books. I
reached a point where I could genuinely say "I am That". This
was in February. That was followed by some weeks of bliss. Life
was a game and all I had to do was to play along.
That was then. The situation now is different. I'm still able to
say "I am That". I don't need to fortify or defend the image I
want to project about myself, because that is just fake. All the
big themes like ambition, wanting to change the world, big
dreams, spirituality, personal honor and codes written in stone
have fallen away. That feels very comfortable. But this also
causes what I call spiritual altitude sickness.
Since the big themes are not there any more, there is a sense of
melancholy and a why bother attitude. On the other hand, the
litle things, like arriving late somewhere or jerks in traffic
seem to impact me more.
Any suggestions?
PS I know "I am That" has been worn out by the neo-advaita
teachers and their marketing department, but it's the only
expression that comes close to what I feel.

Dear G:
Welcome to the forum.
If it goes that easily, that's not it. You may have thought is
was, and it may have been a teaser, but anything the comes and
goes it just not ''It''.
I suggest you forget everything you have been taught by anyone
at all. What is left?
Love ya, Jed

The truth is unchanging. What changes are the emotions that
appear while contemplating that truth. But hey, what doesn't
change in Maya's playground? :D
Trying to hold on to a sense of play or bliss is an attempt to
own the truth, to box it and use it for my benefit. But there is
no benefit and no one who can benefit.
Broadly speaking, I was taught to be something, become
something, do something to get something. Be nice, be polite,
study hard to have a good job, be a good citizen, meditate hard
to bring more compassion in the world... . All nice, fine and
very practical but not useful in man's quest for completeness.
If I forget everything anyone has taught me then I just am now.

Forget it all. What's the point in remembering a bunch of
rubbish that isn't even yours.
Love ya, Jed.

Forgetting everything anyone ever taught me seems pretty
innocent, but it's not. The story I identify myself with is
constructed on everything anyone ever taught me. In other words,
my identity, what I believe to be myself is a construct of
unverified stories from others. They have those stories from
others etc, etc.
Forgetting about everything means to stop living in the story
world. What remains can not be fitted into stories, no sense
looking for words to describe it.
What is left after forgetting everything is not what matters.
Not even forgetting matters. Before forgetting comes abandoning.
The question is why I don't abandon the stories. The answer is
fear. Fear of the unknown, fear of non-existence as an
individual self. But who fears? The only thing that has
something to fear is the collection of stories, rubbish that is
not mine.Fear and that what fears are part of the rubbish.
What's left to do is to examine the current situation, over and
over again. Ask the who question over and over again. Who fears?
Who holds on? Who looks for "it"?...
"Who" is what makes the snake bite it's own tail, forcing it to
eat itself until nothing is left.

A tree is the Self being conscious of a tree. In the same way
"I" am the Self being conscious of "me". My physical body, my
emotions, my ego that calls this body and these emotions mine,
the stories my ego has about my ego, the stories about those
stories, they are all the same. All is the Self, even the
absence of the feeling of "play".
