Thanks for all your good posts. The little 'thingy' that I would
raise is you are all dealing in the illusion, trying to
understand it, get a grip, perhaps manipulate 'it'... and all of
that is just fine but a distraction and a very, very slow
method. Understanding is always a seeking of control of
something and comes from insecurity... the fear that you never
can control anything, which is true of course, you never had any
       control at all.

Find out what is True, or who you are. This is the most direct
method available. In addition, if done with a modicum of
diligence and intent, will result in all the answers you seek.
However, these answers don't come in a mental or academic
fashion as the mind would have you believe. They come from a
knowingness that doesn't require any beliefs or similar mental
machinations. This is why stories are used so frequently, such
as those of Rumi and numerous other greats throughout history.

Having said that, the mind does require a certain amount of
pacification in the beginning. It must be convinced/tricked into
believing there is something worth putting in the work for. It
will dabble around with distractions, they all do, until you
come to the conclusion that you aren't going anywhere and there
must be a better way to make yourself 'accident prone'. Focus
       Grasshopper, focus.

Autolysis worked for me but it is certainly not the only way. I
suggest using the brain you have and ask yourself 'Is this going
to work?'. In truth, any real teacher has nothing to offer you,
and in a sense, the more they offer the less you will get
because it is very easy for one to start with a garbage pile and
seek to clean it up by piling more garbage on top.
There are very few teachers that I haven't looked at, some very
closely. I have probably read a thousand books on the subject,
well, maybe nine hundred. In all my searching I developed a very
precise B.S. detector. It doesn't judge in the usual sense, it
takes my feet and turns them away when appropriate. If I could
give it to you I would gladly do so, but I can't. I suggest
developing you own. Let your body tell you what to do and where
to go, it knows much better than your mind and is the most
       sensitive instrument in existence.

Stop dabbling. Take a method/technique/discipline that passes
the test and apply it, diligently and with intention. This often
leads to the point where your 'normal' life becomes less and
less interesting. That's only logical as Truth is the only true
universal attractor and will draw you away from lies. These lies
are almost always family, relationships, friends and jobs.
Admitting the lies can be challenging.

It takes big kahunees (SP?) to admit you are living a lie, and I
assure you that you are. If you can admit that you are well on
your way to human adult hood. If your mind revolts at the
thought, have a closer look at yourself and your path.

I would guess that some of you will may think. 'So, Jed, are you
living a lie?'. Yes, I am, it is all I have that keeps me on
this planet. Absolutely everyone is living a lie because they
are, at their base, not living and therein they are pretending
to live 'here'. To be here, you must pretend. It's a simple fact
of this existence. You have a mask that gets you through this
particular/peculiar place and it's fine. The difference that
makes a difference is knowing this at a 'beyond thinking' level.

In order to live, breath, eat, sex, etc. you must lie. None of
these things are necessary in Truth, but we do them in order to
continue and we have no other choice but to continue until we
don't because there is no 'I' or 'me' that could ever be in
charge. What keeps us here??? Wanting/desire to have more
       experiences.

Your are not responsible for anything, ever, and this is truly
beautiful. It also means that no one else is responsible as
well. You can never hurt anyone and neither can they hurt you.
Only stories going around and around. Just watch them, they are
funny, sad, idiotic, dangerous and always entertaining, but
never real, just stories. Just 'getting' this is all you may
'need' to do, but of course you don't need anything because you
have never been less than perfect. To rephrase, neither you nor
anyone else has every been guilty of anything so you can now put
down that sword of revenge. It's a burden you don't need to
       carry.

If you went to a theatre and turned you back on the screen you
would have wasted your time and money. This is not about whether
or not you are in the theatre or out of the theatre, it's about
simply knowing who you are and what's really going on... at a
gut level. Just watch the screen and be entertained. That's all
       it's there for.

Ram Dass told me a story of being in India and feeding a
guru/holy man a load of LSD. Throughout the day, the guru just
did what he did and gently smiled along they way. RD kept wait
for something spectacular to happen. I imagine that not a great
deal changed for the holy man as he already knew the truth and
was about as imperturbably as one could be. LSD or not, it was
all the same for him (called the 'acid test' by some).

O.K., O.K., I'm outa here for now. Love yah, Jed.

The illusion of control comes from understanding the connection
between cause and effect. In order to get desirable effects and
avoid undesirable ones, you then know what you should do or not
do. However, if countless factors are involved in any effect, it
is probably impossible to find a cause (everything affects
everything else). People believe in causality and project their
beliefs onto the reality. Then they see reality selectively
(they see what they want to see) and get the confirmation of
their beliefs over and over again. Memory is the result of
perception through judgment. You are told what you should see
and then see it everywhere. When you see something new, you use
your memory to interpret it, thus moving further and further
       away from reality.

Like you told there is the desire for this play to go on. This
is of course the desire of something untruthful to begin with,
but these are phenomena none the less.
I'm aware none of it is Truth, but even thinking about some of
the people I know being illusions hurts this illusory me. I love
the mere countenance of the illusions. I guess that's the
driving force. I'm fine with that. I'll go live the illusion,
that's the choice being made again and again. Why Truth if it's
       boring?

Alcohol doesn't affect because nothing to be affected.
Brain is merging patterns machine and LSD/THC/alcohol or
something like that can't make this process different. May be it
can hide/switch/change/morph patterns but not the thinking
process (personality is amount of patterns i guess).
By the way it can make it slower or faster as when you slept a
lot you thinking faster than if you haven't sleep a lot. I had
       an experiment.
I drank a lot of whiskey one evening due to fall apart. So my
brain went off and my body had been delivered to bed but before
this moment i wasn't being drunk as it usual happens with usual
people (you should know the meaning). I had a spectator to tell
me in the morning what actually happened. He said that my brain
"switched off" in one moment and my eyes became "transparent",
no one was behind it. He said that he saw back of my head
       through it (not literally).
After that experiment i stop drinking any alcohol because i
don't need it anymore. No effect. :'( ;D

Buddha tried all the methods (he was a dabbler) and failed. Then
he became honest. That worked. He told the Universe he really
wanted enlightenment and then he succeeded.
