Dear Members:
When I was young I thought that hypnosis would be a fun tool.
Starting when about 10 years old I use to practice relaxation
when going to sleep. I doubt if I every entered hypnosis, but I
slept really well.
So, let's look back. I would say to myself, ''my foot is
relaxing, deeper and deeper'' and all that good stuff, all the
way up my body. Usually I was out of it after my upper leg. But
something quite profound was going on and I think you might be
able to relate to it.
Here was a voice in my head laying claim to an appendage on an
apparent body. I was saying ''My... ''. Now, this was not me
saying it, it was that little habitual voice in my head... it
was claiming ownership before anything actually happened. It was
Maya/ego stepping in and preemptively claim that the foot
belonged to her/it. Here is a fictitious, insubstantive,
unimportant, wispy little voice based on previous brainwashing
and memories claiming that IT owned that foot.
No one owned that foot, it just was. I might have said something
like, ''that thing that appears at the end of something called a
leg and belonging to no one because there is no one to whom it
could belong is beginning to relax, but not because it is being
controlled by the fictitious voice that appears to be making
these meaningless sounds, but perhaps because it seems like a
good idea, seeing as how there appears to be a body lying down
and thinking of sleep.''
When you talk in terms of ''I, me, my, or mine'' you are
reinforcing the illusion that the voice in your head is you,
that it has control and ownership. There is no you who could
ever own anything. But Maya/ego will endless talk in the first
person claiming ownership. Just listen to a conversation and not
how many times people use the word ''I'', or maybe note how may
times you use it.
Can you get a sense of this insidious mechanism, one of ego's
first lines of attack. You gotta admit, it's insidious and very
well hidden... in plain view.
Perhaps spend some time in your head speaking in the third
person. ''She seems to be hungry'' is much more truthish than "I
am hungry''. ''His car looks like it could use a washing'' is
better that, ''I think I'll wash my car.''
Your thoughts are welcome... but... are they really yours?

He thanks you for this rant. Nice timing, cos he was just
reminding himself to always remove himself from the equation,
since he kinda slipped back in; which is very annoying and a bit
tiresome. ;D

I've thought about it.
Using the first person label creates a separation of a false
self. Using a third person label for the illusionary self,
wouldn't create a denser separation?
Separation from what? Who is addressing who? As an "I" or "him"
,how come we use language and words? Seems so stupid.

He is thinking... that doesn't seem right, maybe thoughts are
occuring is a better way to put it. Because who is thinking? Who
is trying to find out who he is? Who thinks that he has control
over his thoughts? Who desires "free will", whatever that is?
Who thinks he is going insane? He has no idea what these words
mean. Nothing he thinks, for where could any meaning come from?
Nowhere, except from Maya, who doesn't exist.

There seems to be a point where I was really self conscious
about this and 'tried' really hard to monitor my wording as to
not fall back into that state of mind.
The problem wasnt necessarily the belief in there being any I
here. Rather my attempts to not speak in a firs person
subjective left me either sounding unintelligible and reinforced
this idea that there was some I in which to escape in the first
place.
This thing works both ways I guesses. Once the understanding is
there, the need to act or sound like an enlightened or
accomplished being in any way is gone. Really no need for such
games or the reinforcement of the illustration that I tries so
hard to get away from.
It's all games. Only this illusion of I can stop playing. I've
found a helpful attitude is, "there appears to be a body/mind
vehicle here. So what?"

Thoughts are somewhat occuring, but they are not leaving a mark.
They come, go, and its all non problematic. Are they mine, well
as much as the wind or the stars are mine, then they are, but
compared to a time when thoughts demanded occupation, would fuel
fear, were about control, was the me, the same me thought was
me, well all that has ended, and was because the only thing bar
suicide was to allow whatever, and with an attitude of if it
kills me, then so fucking what. I couldnt stand to be like that
a moment longer. That one act, lit the match that created a fire
that burned all that crap and bs out. The notion of it ever
being like that again, well, I didnt gain anything, I lost a
self that stooped to insidious levels to maintain some hold. I
dont feel it ever really goes, but the identifying it as
oneself, certainly can be the case.

it may be insidious, but only if i agree to see harm in it.
you asked to hear about me and i replied.
the voice can be used to gain a better sense of the player(s)
involved. a better sense of the player(s) involved often leads
to enhanced play. you're right though, the capacity to see that
i am not the voice is key.

Could we think of it like a sign in a shop that says "we are
open"? We never get confused that the paper in the sign is open,
or the scripture is open or the ink of the letter is open.
When we hear the voice saying "I'm hungry", what we call "the
voice" is made of the full sentence, the words, the letters, the
tone, ... Do we think that one of the words is hungry ? all of
them ? And if we think that "the one who produced the voice" is
hungry, well, where is he ?
