Jed Rant... Under the date tree.

A brief story:
An Arab king was told by his much trusted fortune tell that he
would die in 24 hours. This soothsayer had been 100% right for
years. Filled with fear, the king summoned his most trusted
steed and rode out at midnight. He rode until his horse dropped
in it's tracts. With only a few hours left he started running.
Eventually he could only walk. As the 24 hour mark approached he
spotted a small oasis with a date tree. He could barely make it
to the tree. As he slumped down under it a dark stranger
appeared to his left. Startled, he jumped up and said, ''Who are
you''. The stranger replied, ''I am the Angel of Death... what
took you so long?'' At which point the king died of a heart
attack from all his exertion.
Anything you want to do before slumping under the date tree? If
so, what's stopping you? Go on, make up something...

No, I don't have anything left I would want or need to do before
slumping under the tree. So, until the angel of death comes by
I'll just sit and watch and enjoy or not enjoy and react or not
react to whatever comes along. It's cool, whenever.

I would like to find this king. Kindly throw him from his horse.
Assure him that his 24 hours are not 'his.' Give him a hug and
sit with him until his angel arrives.
It's time to give up on fairy tales...

What if the wanting is driven by ego? A better life, a more
confident "self"? And humans struggle for the wanting
unconsciously? Isn't it the opposite direction of approaching
TR?
