Jed Rant... Ah heck, I give up....

Surrender is not a terribly positive term in the west. It's seen
as a loss or failure. We are so wrap up in success and winning
that it's just not desirable... well, that's that west for you.
So, what do you think of when I say ''Surrender''. Maybe it
means losing an argument... I don't know... but what if it is
all backwards, what if you win by surrendering. But let me be
specific. I am talking about surrendering to what is. That
argument in your head, the anger and the hurt, the blah blah is
not what is. It's a meta-experience, a story about what is.
You eyes feel sore from looking at this screen. Eyes, screen and
sore are just concepts... stories about something. I'm not
suggesting you surrender to a story. That's just more
mind-garbage. Surrender to what is.
O.K. smarty pants, what is?
I can't tell you what is, only you know what is for you. But, in
the forgoing, I have told you what is not. Of that you can be
very sure. So find out what is for you.
Game Hint: You have to establish what ''you'' is before you can
move anywhere on the board.
Good luck.
Love ya, Jed.

Deja vu, all over again, Jed. I re-read the Brent giving up on
cancer and the father demon last night.
So surrender was the subject of the day. I logged on here to
punch "surrender" into the search
box, to see what came up, but I read the new "Jed Rant" first.
Guess the universe is trying to
tell me something....
Still further,
mac

This rant made me smile. No words, no rubbish, simply a smile.
I dunno who came up with the phrasing "beauty lies in
simplicity". Fitting hallucination.
Thank you. :D

Surrender for me is letting go. Accept it and embrace that to
which you surrender. It was hard for me to accept some of the
truth that I could understand and accept that I am not in
control. That's surrendering for me.

For me surrender is just being.

Surrender turned out to be inevitable in the end...
I don't know if it is actually something you can DO? Maybe some
can, I couldn't.
But, like I said, in the end I had no choice in the matter.

Dear Jed,
It's not hard to understand what you mean except the last
sentence "You have to establish what ''you'' is before you can
move anywhere on the board."
Can you explain it more specifically?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Vivian:
Find out who this thing that you refer to as ''I, me, my and
mine'' is. Just ask yourself ''what am I?" or you might want to
inquire ''What is all this occurring in?''.
Love ya, Jed.

Hey Jed,
You wrote this: I'm not suggesting you surrender to a story.
That's just more mind-garbage. Surrender to what is.
I understand (or think I do) that you can't tell us what is -
that's something we have to see/figure out for ourselves.
However, when you say not to surrender to a story, may you
elaborate? Best by giving a hypothetical example. I'm confused
on this and know that I needed to see this perfectly at this
time because it appears I've been dealing with (painful) stories
that I've let play out in my mind. While I'm aware that I don't
really know if what the stories are telling me are actually
true, it doesn't of course stop them from happening or the
painful contemplation that it *could* be true.
Thanks.

Dear PP11:
Good question. I'll go my best, but it isn't easy.
Stories are all illusion. There are certain relative truths in
involved in the sense that one person's story may be ''crap,
it's raining, another miserable day.'' while another's might be
''Wonderful, time we had some rain to clear up the air here''.
You can probably understand than neither story is actually true,
it's just an interpretation based on personal tendencies. Does
this model apply to all stories. Yes, it does because all
stories are at least once removed from actual experience. In
addition, stories are you primary source of emotions, and in my
experience emotions are highly over rated. They are also removed
from direct experience.
Now, if you where going to surrender to anything, and Frits
raised a good point. You can't actually voluntarily/willfully
surrender. You can pretend to and that starts a tiny ember which
can become a forest fire of surrender. So back to, ''if you
where doing to surrender to anything'' can you see much sense is
surrendering to an illusion. That's pretty silly in my
experience.
Touch something right now. Can you surrender to your sensory
experience, fully. Now watch the stories you just made up about
touching the desk or computer. Can you see the difference. It's
subtle but very real. You surrender/welcome/experience a
touching happening. Surrender to that. When you get a story
running around in your head, just allow it to do what it does.
It's possibly the least important thing in the illusion. Don't
be bothered with it or by it.
I feel that was a clumsy explanation, but all I can muster up at
the moment.
Love ya, Jed.
