That spin on Marley's quote is gold. Solid points, Kiri. From my
experiences, whether the story is perceived as good (ego wants
to repeat it again or for it to last forever) or bad, suffering
happens. It seems that the contents are not important of the
mind, but the identification is where the trap is.
Here are some more quotes...
1. "Even you can't accept or like yourself all the time, so why
expect others to?"
2. "Standing next to a so-called inferior or superior person,
take a second to notice how both are being sustained by the same
air and are probably exchanging the same breaths with each
other."
3. "The ego is the master pimp in everyone's lives and won't
allow for satisfaction for long with anything at all."
4. "You either have more than what you need and are bored to
tears pretending to be fulfilled with life or deeply desiring to
get all the things the bored people have"

Since we're all sharing song lyrics and quotes...I figure I'd
share some of mine that were written last week. Creativity comes
from a place of not-knowing, since there's literally nobody that
can control the situation or set things into motion. It just
happens, like everything else. And it just so happens that these
lyrics are very related to you, Jed...
"On the bridge between past and future stands
A man and dog without any written plans
His books were burned a couple years ago
And now the dog's leash tells him where to go
'Round the world he goes in playful light-stepped shoes
Greeting neighbors from past lives he never knew
He leaves no trace, no memories to hold
They slip from his hands into the mist of the cold
No place to call his own
This world he calls his home
At night he rests his head
Warm blankets of the dead
At the carnival her eyes draw him inside
He grabs her hands and holds her from behind
They dance all night, for tomorrow he'll be gone
And all that will remain is the rising of the dawn
No place to call his own
This world he calls his home
He holds his dog anew
In silent gratitude"
