I'm not sure that anyone believes in a separate or independent
existence. You can only use the tools that are available. Maybe
       that's where the confusion lies.
Within that there is no reason to assert that you have no
choice. If you had not the free will to choose your perspective
you simply would not be able to hold an opinion on the matter.
You would not even land on perspective with which to have. I do
it all the time. Choose to release my opinion and choose when to
pick it back up. That's the only thing that EVER happens in this
       forum.
So far 4 pages of free will embodyment and counting. Most
asserting that they have no ability to do so. Damned peculiar...

Even Jed will be making a choice in short order about whether or
       not to delete your video.
       We shall see.

About free will. It is not free. It comes with the cost of every
other part also having free will. :) But a particle might not
give a shit if you move it around, since it can be everywhere at
       once...right? :) etc.

He won't. Did you see the video?
He will decide depending of a lot of factors that were defined
at the big bang hehehe... everything works like a clock. And we
       are included.

The other part doesn't have free will either. If a particle can
be everywhere at once, it is because of laws of physics that
can't be broken, we not knowing about those laws doesn't make
       them disappear.

here's what I don't understand: it feels like I'm the one
deciding to eat that donut, to skip excercising, etc, and that I
suffer the consequences of my poor decisions. But if I don't
have free will, I had no choice but to eat that donut. Why do i
feel guilty about eating the donut if there was no alternative?
Also, how come I can imagine a scenario where I don't eat the
donut if I don't have free will? Also what even is free will?
The ability to choose between two alternatives? WHat determines
what choice you will make? Inevitably the conditions immediately
prior to the choice. So how is that a free choice? It's not, I
don't think there is such a thing as a "free choice". So where
       does that leave free will?

Qwuakey: You don't want the consequences so that is why you feel
guilty... The donut is not free. You are trading something off.
At every turn. Until you die. :)
       Anxiety.

Ok, where did that thought about eating a donut came from? Are
you the creator of that thought?
I found an interesting article about the subject, I think he
explains free will better than me.
"The point is quite simple. Unless we can divorce ourselves
from our minds, then any claim of "free will" is nothing more
than the rationalization of that same mind that we somehow
possess it. It is simply a circular argument.
As a result, we cannot claim to be "free" of the very same organ
and process that is making the claim of freedom. Everything we
do originates in our brain, including the notion that somehow we
can behave independently of that same brain. To suggest
otherwise would require some independent "seat of power", a
homonculus [or "little man"] that is capable of overriding the
       decisions originating in our brains."
If you are interested in reading the whole article, here it
       goes.
