From here to there what now

Hey Jed...Wasn't sure I'd ever say that, found here by chance
and wandering, an internet acquaintance. Found SE The Damnedest
Thing about 2004. Somewhere in there, I said to myself, this
dude would be cool to hang out with...figured there were enough
bread crumbs I could find this guy...and then I found out
that...it was a "crafted" book, and Jed was carefully concealed.
Expletive, (#^$&*#). Oh well.
Journey started at 17 (1969), Theosophy, Eastern Philosophy,
Hinduism-maya, Zen. ~19~ found J Krishnamurti (learned about
attention). He was pretty much it for about six years..other
poking around. Tao Te Ching, 1974, read the whole thing same day
found. C Castaneda, started with Ixtlan+. St. John of the Cross
(self is a candle, in the flame it disappears), Dark Night of
the Soul. Eastern Orthodox monasticism and the Desert Fathers.
Chuang Tzu. (Compressing data), internally, burned bridges,
eventually, was, Zen, Taoist, Dzogchen, Kabbalist, Eastern
Orthodox, Celtic, esoteric Christian "mystic" :-). Search, #1 in
life. CW The Outsider, learned about habit, conditioning,
programming (& metaprogramming JCL) "robot", autopilot versus
being conscious (aware+). (Technique 1 & 2, A+). Tony De Mello,
The Way To Love. Bernadette Roberts. Joseph Chilton Pearce.
self-study. Hubert Benoit. Suffering led the way >:(.
Read all the Jed books, Play, at Act III. Inertia my name,
entropy* my game :( ; lazy, don't like responsibility.
Outwardly, do as little as possible. Ex-suicide (definition, see
Walker Percy), 1975, '76, '83 (year got married), '95 (year
marriage ended). Here? Wrestling Maya, truthing, overcoming
inertia & *, furthering.

Dear Dusty:
Thanks for that, you sound like a true spiritual materialist.
Are you ready to discard everything you have read?
Love ya, Jed,
P.S. in the end, that includes ME.

I'm feeling really naked now. I studied really hard for my
entrance exam (glad that's over with, I wanted to say, 250
words, are you kidding, but that put me over 250 words). But
yea, I get that spiritual materialism thing (yea, did read the
book) [OK, introduction almost over], I get (theoretically) that
that's ego's full-time job, that's 'my' job, and books are a
problem, ' trying to change my addiction. I don't 'believe in'
the words in my head anymore. But somehow they keep coming back.
And I know I have not been really serious, so yea, you cut right
down to the bone. I got through the, to be or not to be thing, I
got that suicide is not the best solution to the burden of self.
I was poking around, found the technique part 2 thread so then I
found the technique 1 thread. That's basically my journey now,
has been for a while, 1. So, theoretically, above, isn't really
correct. I try to live through attention and awareness. I keep
going because "I" (in a manner of speaking) don't want to be
(me). So when "I" shows back up, and there is recognition, there
is the coming back to attention and/or awareness, trying to put
ego out of a job. So yea, time to get serious. ....Oh, I've been
journaling for over forty years, so I got SA, I had been sort of
doing it, but sloppily. I learned a long time ago that my best
thinking (if that means anything) comes out of my fingers. But I
do get that word in any form is a mere copy, not really real.
Thanks for your time Jed. dm (although dusty is good).

I was exploring a little just now, about to go to sleep,
pondering some, how to describe, might as well cut to the chase.
An image came to mind, an analogy, being conscious versus
existing on autopilot. You walk into a theater, take a seat, the
lights go down, the movie starts. You are watching, it's a
pretty good movie. You disappear into the movie. You're no
longer sitting in a seat in a theater in the dark. And then
somebody sneezes, and you come back into the theater for a few
seconds, maybe a minute, but then you disappear back into the
film, until. Some jerk has to whisper to his girlfriend. And
****, you find yourself back in a theater again. You just want
to enjoy the movie, uninterrupted. End analogy. Life is like
that, that's where I'm at, trying not to disappear into life.
Having gotten a sense of the difference, then valuing one over
the other. You wake up in the morning, and almost immediately
you disappear into showering, then eating breakfast, brushing
your teeth. All day, something else, one thing after another
captures one's attention. It's just like being in a theater, you
disappear into life, but there is nothing to disturb you, nobody
whispering, the movie doesn't end, the lights don't come on.
Life is a movie. Life takes all your attention, maybe all day,
sucking ~you~ in, relentless, until attention is reclaimed.
~I'm~ just trying to keep from disappearing into life. Ego
versus not-disappearing into ego linking to life. Existing
simultaneously, but conscious. And thanks for 8)

Hey Jed ... I was chewing the cud on introducing myself in 250
words, and the thinking of, yea, how can that be done? Sweating
over it a little (not much, but somewhat). And I crammed it in
pretty good, cut and snipped, compacted, but leaving almost
nothing for what's going on now, figured we'd get to now, later.
And then you put the 250 words into two words, spiritual
materialism. So the pondering on that turned it into a funny
release, Jed distilled the crap into two words. 8) And then
came to mind 1995, I went to see a shrink basically because of
marriage problems. And I started off telling him about 1991,
when, because of this experience...I experienced, I had gone to
see a shrink, but I fired her after seeing her twice, and that
alone pretty much ended my marriage bla, bla. I felt the need to
tell 1995 shrink about seeing 1991 shrink and the why of that.
(They were both MD actual shrinks, not just psychologists). But
he waved that off immediately. He said, I don't care about that,
I want to know what's going on with dusty, now. (He was a cool
dude, ' got lucky, he basically understood spiritual crisis,
etc., enough anyway, later saw he sees that self includes the
past, is the past). End story. So maybe I kinda failed the
introduction, maybe the introduction is about "what's going on
with dusty, now", not the journey that got to now. But anyway,
you got me pretty focused, back on track, moving, looking at
self (and Maya) trying to train-wreck...the pursuit... universe
is good.

Dear Dusty;
Thanks for sharing that, however, I don't believe a word of it.
Prove to me that it all happened and I might change my mind, but
my b.s. detector is going off BIG TIME!
I sure as hell hope you don't believe it, because if you do, you
are way, way, way beyond hope.
Now, get your you know what out of your you know what and tell
me exactly what you want. Not approximately, EXACTLY. In less
than 100 words.
Love ya, Jed.

Jed, ~I~ want to be unequivocally free of ego. ~'~ guess '
should stop there. However, explaining, somewhat, I have shared
some other stuff, which is representative of what ~I~ want to be
free of. There has been recognition, that when ego engages with
life, some nasty entanglements plus assorted *hit happens, most
of it time-dependent. So, ~I~ see my-self is the problem. This
freedom would entail avoidance of future entrapments, but I'm
sure that would be included. Ego is a defective interface. d

Complicated baffle gab... start talking more clearly.
Say it all again and clarity both your thinking and your words.
