If there's one thing I got from your books Jed, it's that
nothing about my job is important. I'm pretty sure I dropped
that story after the first reading of Damnedest. So much so, I
horrified onlookers by immediately going from working six days a
week down to three. I then spent a lot of years and money
studying for a new career; only realising once "qualified" that
that choice was equally unimportant and uninspiring. So the
second career was over before it began and I stayed on the
occupational path of least (not no) resistance, where I remain.
Now that my unimportant work for this week is over, I can turn
my attention to more important things like relaxing, breathing,
welcoming, and understanding (I wish!) that it's a giant stage
       play. Thank you.

I really hope this doesn't sound like I'm trying to pick a fight
with you, Jed; I'm only trying to avoid one within me. While
drifting off to sleep tonight, the following occurred to
me...and I felt I had to get out of bed and write it down or
spend the next eight hours ruminating on it. In Reply #7, you
berated me for (briefly) looking at a disturbing media photo
depicting someone - so the story goes - seconds from death. In
Warfare, Lisa carries around a disturbing media photo, in her
dayplanner, depicting someone - so the story goes - seconds from
death. She isn't berated; she gets "loud and sustained applause"
at Brett's service. I have no question for you. I just needed to
dump this somewhere so I can get some sleep. Thank you and good
       night.

       Dear SN:
I am laughing because I read 'ruminating' as 'urinating'. Still
       smiling.
Don't worry, get out what you will. However, if you find someone
who claims to be T/R and they are consistent, it's probably b.s.
I am anything but consistent because I never have the same
person in front of me. Even if you come to me a day later, you
are not the same as yesterday. Indeed, I am never the same
either. Whatever is called for is followed through on.
I understand getting a though in your head and having to dump
it. No problem, dump away. If think you are wasting time or
hiding, I will tell you, and then I will tell you. If I can't be
of service I will just delete you because there are others that
I hallucinate I can be of service to.
It's just what is operating through mean and I am watching and
enjoy it. The magic words that trigger things in you can come
from the most mundane things. It doesn't have to be profound
utterances of a saffron robed, bearded fellow on the banks of
       the Ganges. Love ya, Jed.

       Dear Jed
I had a wonderful sleep (I'm in the Southern Hemisphere) and
       there was no urinating involved!
I owe you an apology. In my last post, I was trying to pick a
fight with you. On waking, it suddenly "hit" me; I'm just a
series of punches and counter-punches. Always attacking or
attacking to defend. And I don't rest between rounds. I just
keep throwing them. Perfectly suited to life as a journalist -
but not to H/A or T/R. This realisation alone has been worth the
       price of admission.
At the risk of breaching your "no cross-talk" rule, I wanted to
thank Kati for her thread. I went poking around just to see how
an online ashram is supposed to operate and bam! First, the
crying. In trying to compose my first post for this forum (and
first ever on any Internet forum), I cried for at least an hour.
When I saw your first reply, I cried for another two. And it's
continued intermittently since, including on the train to and
from work, and right now. I didn't want to mention what I
thought was a great weakness but, in just a few short hours,
I've changed my opinion about it. After years of lurking on your
forum - too scared to participate for fear of not being witty
enough or, worse, never "getting it"(in full view of others) - I
feel I'm about to be exposed. The tears are something giving way
in me, perhaps the first landslip.
Next, the possibility of a fake Jed. To understand how
traumatising this could be, I'll explain it like this: my
husband goes through life quoting Homer Simpson; my older
brother goes through life quoting Jerry Seinfeld; and I go
through life quoting Jed McKenna. One day someone said to me:
"What if book-Jed is wrong? What if forum-Jed is fake?" Straight
between my eyes! I don't recall how I responded but, if not with
a left hook, then I'm sure it would have been at least a jab.
Then, the pointlessness, hopelessness and uselessness. This is
where I've dwelled ever since Damnedest. I can quote you on it
but now I want to truly understand it.
Thank you Jed...and thank you Kati.

Got it Raw. I quoting me any better than quoting Homer or Bart.
       I idolize those guys.
       Let the tears roll on.

Hi Jed, I'm now embarrassed about the crying and with pretty
much everything I've written so far. Is it common to look back
with embarrassment, only minutes or hours after posting? Thank
       you.

       Hi Jed
I like "To Do" lists so have started one under the heading
"Spiritual To Do" (although I might change that 'cause I don't
like the acronym STD). It currently reads:
       Relax
       Breathe
       Welcome
Can you suggest anything else that should be on the list at this
stage? I'd like to do something more.
Last night, my husband and I made a regular visit to a café run
by a group of people who live together on a nearby farm. They
claim not to be religious but they follow the Bible (Old & New
Testaments). I guess it's a kibbutz set-up, just not in Israel.
Over the last 12 months, we've become what some would call
"friends". I hesitate to use that term because I'm in the
business of removing people from my life, not accumulating them.
Nevertheless, they now invite us to "private" celebrations, such
as an in-house stage play last weekend. I enjoyed the night out
but not the content of the play (a biblical story). They must
think we're "ripe for the picking" because, from time-to-time,
they talk about their hope that we'll "join them". Apart from my
disdain for the bible stuff, other reasons I don't see that
happening include: they currently number 60 people living on 45
acres (my limit is two per our 40 acres); they have a common
       purse (I enjoy having my own money); dress code is dictated;
work tasks are allocated; relationships are, if not arranged,
then at least approved or not; and members can be uprooted and
sent to other off-shoots around the world based on group (not
individual) need. Still, there are some things I admire, the
biggest being their trust that something much bigger than
themselves is at work. I want some of that. Thank you.

Wow, sounds like a great group.... to avoid like Ebola.
I could rant for a long time about this, but I strongly suggest
that anything that is intentionally setting limits on your
freedom is not selling freedom at all. You set all the limits on
you that you want, but for heaven's sake, avoid other people's
limits. They are their problems, not yours. Sure sheep are
content, but that's just one step up from mutton on someones
       plate.
Please pass the mint sauce, I'm wait for you... hmmmm.
Love ya, Jed. (gravy is nice too, if you are so inclined.)

Yet again, my previous post was really, really crappy (am I ever
going to get the hang of this?). If nothing else Jed, I continue
to laugh hysterically at your lines. Have I mentioned before
that you are as much a writing/comedic master as a spiritual
one? Is there no limit to your jocularity? Were you always so
clever or was that a side-effect of T/R? Can I laugh my way to
H/A, T/R rather than skin myself alive?
Back to my stupidity. The reason I raised the café/farm group
was a feeble attempt to say that for all their limiting and
ridiculous beliefs which truly are like fingernails down a
chalkboard to me, I thought their one redeeming feature (apart
from the great café food which is why I go) was their trust in
letting go and letting God, so to speak. Is that letting go and
letting God line what you mean by releasing the tiller?
Also, can I just check again about whether my Spiritual To Do
list should have anything more on it at this stage than just
       relax, breathe and welcome?
       Thank you, as always.

Don't confuse letting go and letting God with giving up your
mind and body to a cool-aid drink group of ninnies. I sees it,
and I calls it. Letting go and letting God would really mean
letting go of all the bull shit feel good garbage they seek in
       their group.
Go there, eat their food, enjoy their hospitality, use them like
crazy but leave before they get an opportunity to use you. If
someone asked me to join, I would probaly say something like,
'Why hasn't God told you, I have already joined you. I am, in
fact, you. Haven't you gotten that yet. Both of us are joined in
that One God, and I pray for you fervently every night. You are
welcome to come along with me some evening. We have a sorta
Singers for God group, well, it started out that way and then
turned into 'Swingers for God', if you get my drift. He does
work in marvelous ways. Orientation means nothing to us, as long
as you know up from down, your in like Flynn. Can you feel His
love, it's everywhere. Love ya, Jed'.
