       A spiritual novice
   DIR By: RawHippo

       Dear Jed
Ever since you came into my life about 10 years ago, I’ve wanted
to talk to you. And now I have the chance, I’m almost
       speechless.
Perhaps it’s because I’m a spiritual novice compared to the many
gifted others who’ve been able to so wittingly converse on your
forums. Perhaps it’s because your books ruined my life; yours
and David Icke’s. In fact, it was your mention of David Icke in
Ego massage (message) from Jed that prompted me to post for the
first time ever. It seemed “indicated”.
I’ve read your books over and over because a) the writing is
masterful (how can one person come up with so many great lines?)
       b) they make me laugh (my favourite chapter is Chapter 17. Gita
Life, SIE) and c) I’m still stuck between “knowing” what Truth
isn’t and not “knowing” what it is.
In practical terms - since reading them - I’ve walked away from
most of the people in my life (except my husband whom I adore,
and my very small family), I’ve cut my work (in the media) down
to enough days to make a living while still appearing to
function – but all the while living in a constant state of
demotivation and depression. Can’t go back, can’t go forward.
The phrases “come and see for yourself” and “that which cannot
be simpler” taunt me. I don’t have any other spiritual gurus or
       history – you’re it.
I’ve tried S.A. but the only words that come out on the page are
blah, blah, blah. I do want to know and experience authentic
spirituality but if I’m not ready to toss an expensive family
heirloom into the lake just yet, does that cancel me out of HA
       and TR (Question 1)?
What I most want is to experience the universe as a big, playful
puppy; to trust that the universe has my back and I can clearly
see what is indicated (I know I used that term above re David
Icke but, rarely, if ever, is anything indicated in my life).
How can I experience the universe in this way (Question 2)?
       Thank you.

Dear Novice: (Much better than a pro).
Thank you for your post and sincere writings. Also, your focus.
       So.. question 1,
Nothing eliminates you for H/A or T/R.
Second answer, you are expecting a particular result, something
that matches up with an ideal that you hold, stories, stories,
stories, you are in Disney Land. You have no idea what T/R is or
you would already be there, it is inevitable and unimaginable.
So, maybe just a little more opening and welcoming.
I said it before, but T/R is more like an infinite welcoming
than anything else. Be that welcoming and see what happens.
Judging and expecting will slam the door shut, like now. Give it
a try. You don't absolutely have to drop everything in the
illusion, but it does seem to be what happens in many folks
       lives.
Just welcome for a while, consciously, and it will become a part
of your life. No guarantees of course, but it certainly makes
sense and will contribute to your life, but you never know what
will come of it.... Love ya, Jed.

       Thanks for welcoming me Jed.
Questions: Is there no such thing as actively
creating/co-creating my life? Should I stop buying internet
programs that promise to teach me this? Can I only passively
       welcome it?
       Thank you.

Contemplate this... do you know what your next thought will
be... and... do you know what you are going to do about it?
Contemplate and tell me what the implication is. Love ya, Jed.

Right now, I know my next thought will be: "Do you know what
your next thought will be?". And the thought after that will be:
"Wrong answer. Contemplate some more." And I'll put those two
thoughts on a mind loop. I presume, by your last suggestion,
there's something else marginally ahead of my thoughts, calling
the shots. Question: What or who is it?

Having thought long and hard about whether I can know what my
next thought will be and what I am going to do about it, I've
realised that thoughts arise and only then do I become aware of
them. I'm not the source of them, nor can I create them. And if
I can't create my thoughts, how could I possibly create my life?
My life is only a series of (programmed) reactions.
Q1: Jed, is this realisation in any way correct?
Q2: If so, what do I do with it?
Also, I've been consciously welcoming everything since you
suggested it. I know 24 hours does not a habit make but I'm
"reporting back" lest I get bumped from the forum for lack of
posting activity. In welcoming - as opposed to complaining,
judging, swearing, expecting, reacting etc - I've found
       everything to be...boring and bland.
       Thank you.

My welcoming experiment has been somewhat derailed today thanks
to media images of another shackled, kneeling, orange
jump-suited hostage, moments away from execution at the (left)
hand of a black-clad IS foot soldier in a Syrian desert. My
attention is most drawn to the eyes - of both the
soon-to-be-executed and the executioner - and all I want to do
is cry. Jed, I guess that looking into these eyes is no
different to looking into the eyes of, say, a newborn, but my
visceral sensations tell me otherwise. Question: How do I
       welcome them equally? Thank you.

Welcoming doesn't mean welcome this and not that. By the way,
what the hell are you doing watching that crap? I absolutely
forbid you from watch TV or negative computer images (and porn)
for one whole week. No exception.
Certainly these negative things can be held in a loving
welcoming, but not from where your mind is right now. If you are
studying weight lifting, don't start with 500 lbs, only an
idiot would do that. Welcome your friend's body odor for
starters, welcome traffic, welcome that mosquito bite. You have
been rejecting and resisting all your life and that won't change
immediately. Don't analyze this as well, just decide to hold the
'welcome' embrace, like an old friend. It's all coming up for
that purpose. Welcome it and it will just disappear.
When Buddha welcomed the universe, it also disappeared, at
least, that's my B.S. story and I'm sticking to it. It's just
more fun than the CNN and FOX story. Love ya, Jed.

Thanks Jed. I work in the media so I can't avoid the news. I've
limited it as much as I can but any more and I won't be able to
       do my job...

Wow, what an amazing learning opportunity. It's all a dream.
What happens to all the event of a dream when you wake up. Poof,
gone. All the stuff in the media is not real. I mean literally
not real. Just observe and don't believe a word or a picture. No
one ever dies because no one is ever born.
Where are all your problems in say.... a hundred million years.
How important where all the things you did? You have been
inculcated to believe what you are doing is important and real.
       DON'T BUY IT!
It's the only way the B.S. can be maintained. You don't have to
reject it as that is as much a problem as accepting it. You just
need to see it as a giant play. No resistance, no aversion, just
pleasant amusement. Nothing is really any better than anything
else, it all lies in how you take it. Real is no more real than
not-real because nothing is actually real. Try not to laugh in
other folks faces at work. It maybe be hard at times, but folks
do not like being woken up abruptly, just as when in bed. Relax,
breath, welcome, and understand that it's a giant stage play.
The point of any play/movie is to convince you that it's all
real. A good play is a good convincer, but that doesn't change
the fact that it's still just a play, that's all. Love ya, Jed.
       P.S. be patient with yourself.
