It is as it seems?

Hi Jed,
nice to meet ya. I'm very inspired by your work and thank you
very much for your guidance.
So I didn't read the rules before my first post where I put up a
video. Sorry about that and thanks for not kicking me off. I
misunderstood the nature of this forum but I've read the rules
and I will comply.
I've read all your books and the one question I have now is
this:
Theoretically I get why I can't know things exists and that only
the self can be known. But, if all experience points to an
objective existence of a thing out there, is it not safe to
assume that the thing IS out there? I can't know for sure if it
is, but my uncertainty doesn't disprove an object's objectivity
does it? One way to see it is nothing can be known and that
reality is a dream. Another is that nothing can be known but all
things experienced by the "object" affirm it's existence and
therefore can be better suited to trust as reality. Either
scenario requires belief doesn't it? If I realize no thing can
be known by me, doesn't it then become a belief to say that it
objectively doesn't exist; that it's all a dream? To believe
it's a dream or to believe it's reality are really both baseless
speculations aren't they? So why not go with the evidence the
senses provide? Because if you believe it's a dream you just
believe in wispy dream stuff.
Thanks for your time.
Best,
Ø

Dear Z:
Your questions are loaded with statements. Beliefs exist and are
real and yet at the same time completely amorphous fictions. How
can you have one belief when you are ten years old and a
different five years later? It doesn't make sense.
But you know what was hot when ten years old and it's still a
hot stove five years later. Sense don't lie in a way, but we
don't stop with the senses, we start turning them into concepts
and then believe them. If you burned yourself once you may think
all stoves are hot, most aren't but your belief may have some
functional/survival purpose. No problem really, but you are
asking questions that only you can answer.
Where do you end and another start? Where does the past end and
the present start... and the present end and the future start.
As silly as they might sound, they are no more silly questions
than you are asking. Always just turn to your experience, not
your story of your experience, or at least, know the difference
between them. You are the only authority on you, I am the
authority on me. In one way there is no difference, but in order
for our human experience to keep our interest, we pretend there
is difference. Hence, we can keep surprising our Self (only one
self of course). It keeps us in the game.
Love ya, Jed.

Thanks for getting back to me so quickly.
So I'm a bit confused. Beliefs exist you say and on the other
hand you say they are ALL false! Is it that belief is thought
and thought exists? Thought does exist, and I can see how that
is amorphous. Am I on track here?
Where do I begin and another end? Hmm... I've thought about this
often. The knee jerk answer is this closed sentient container I
call a body. But upon inspection I find that this body seems to
be a happening in me or appearing to me through the senses. I
have my doubts about this "me" funny business though. I find
myself wanting to believe it's consciousness but who's to say
it's not just some phenomenon in the brain that makes it seem
like things are appearing to it? I mean do people that are
severely brain damaged experience the world appearing to them in
the same way. I can't say. This is why it seems like a belief
when I imagine some witness/ presence just kickin it waiting for
the appearance of things.
I really start tripping out when I question whether or not I was
born. I mean they say that the body fully regenerates each cell
ever 7-10 yrs. Physically I've died 3-4 times now. What has
stayed the same? The past is gone and I was born in the past.
Because now is all there is, it seems doubtful that I ever was
born. I can't say I was born nor can I say I was not. Either
side would just be a belief.
How can I know for certain that the brain is not the function of
the sense of I AM?
I'd say that's about 250.
Thanks Jed,
Ø

First of all, I don't believe I have ever said beliefs are all
false, I may have, but I doubt it. Beliefs are all made up...
and that is very different.
Some beliefs are quite useful. I believe that if truck runs over
me it's going to hurt like hell. That's quite reasonable. I
don't particularly want to be run over.
I also might believe something rather silly like... ohh, that
girl likes me, she is looking at me and smiling. Later on, I
find out that it was because I still has some spaghetti sauce on
my chin. Approx. 99% of beliefs are made up in order to keep us
in the game, the Maya/ego game. About 1% are practical and for
survival purposes. I see nothing wrong with either, but I do
think one is wise to know the difference and pay most attention
to the 1%. i.e., keep a look out for that truck.
You are using you mind to try and find something that's not in
your mind. In fact, nothing is in your mind because it is simply
a vast emptiness. I'll tell you a little secret that you have
forgotten.
You are not the things you think you see, you are the space that
they seem to be appearing in. So, you are paying attention to
the wrong things, thoughts. Look for all the space, around you,
things and people. Just take a day and only focus on space. Much
more to be learned and enjoyed there.
Love ya, Jed (the space cadet)

Ok. I took the day and tried to observe space as much as I
could. Could space be the screen that Ramana Maharshi referred
to that's quoted in your book TOE? "The SCREEN is real, all else
are but shadows on it." And I am the screen? It seems so.
Is there a void? I notice when I walk or drive, things disappear
when they pass my peripheral. I still know they are there but as
far as direct experience goes it has vanished– especially
considering that NOW only exists.

Thanks Jed

Consciousness = perceiver-perception-perceived. Most of what I
perceive IS space! If I really stop and look, it's more abundant
than anything around me. So based on the definition of
consciousness, I am mostly space when space is perceived.
If the preceived is not there does the preceiver still reside?
Like in deep dreamless sleep? Nothing is preceived right? So
where is the preceiver? Is that a void? A complete no-mans land?
When the mind is blank does the perceiver perceive blankness? Or
is there just nothing to reflect back? It seems like if
nothingness is perceived by that which is no-thingness you got
an infinite feedback loop called a void. But how the hell can
nothing be perceived? It's nothing!
Are these just thought turds?

Dear O:
A smart fox smells his own hole first.
You are asking all the right questions, really... and now I will
share the right answer. Only you can look and see what is,
what's going on or not. I can tell you that you are very close,
keep drilling for oil.
Love ya, Jed.

Thank you I will take your advice. When I try to focus all my
energy on these things I feel like I get really ditzy. Over the
weekend I was obsessing over these questions and was really
pissing my wife off because she'd tell me things that went in
one ear and out of the other. Several times she claimed to have
told me things that I was completely unaware of. Does this sort
of thing happen with more frequency the further you go? I mean
how can you even function in the world once you have Identified
with nothing and there is no self remaining? Can you maintain a
job and a family?

You are shedding importances. Yes, you can function after T/R,
quite well, but this is where you have to be an adult. Perhaps
you aren't functioning now. Has that occurred to you?

Functioning for me means getting up in the morning, prepping for
work, 8hrs on then off to my home again then prep for bed so I
can get up again the next day and do it all over again. I do
feel like I'm on auto pilot mode and feel a deep sense of
monotony by it all though.
What does functioning mean from a truth realized perspective?
