       Surrender or Flight?
   DIR By: sandg1l

I hate working at Walmart. I like the customers, scanning items
and bagging, but have ever increasing issues with Walmart's
latest techniques to prevent job satisfaction. I try and
       surrender.
My thinking goes like this: I would love to quit, but how will I
pay the bills? Maybe I am supposed to be at Walmart and use it
as some sort of personal challenge? It was easy enough to land
the job; as if it were meant to be. Do I flee and hope that by
fleeing, another door will open before I lose my wonderful
little cottage because I can't afford my property taxes.
Attachments!! I know. If I didn't have any, I could just quit.
Now my daugher with husband, baby, and unborn baby are about to
move to San Diego where husband has new employment. I am trying
       to surrender to this loss. I can't afford to go and see her;
can't afford to miss work because no work, no income, no
survival. Don't mind dying. But suicide is not preferred method.
I am trying to surrender to all this. I spend many minutes
sitting with and experiencing the emotional pain. It eases and
returns a few hours later. Look for universal guidance to make
       change. Nothing.
Is this situation another dark night to be used to realize
truth? So difficult right now. Am I supposed to fight as if
       Ahab? Or surrender? Confused again.

I presume I am allowed to reply to my own post.
As one is limited to 250 words, I could not add the following:
I know that the situation is an illusion; it's not real. I can
sense that. Meanwhile and despite, I still seem to be dealing
with anxiety and sorrow. These emotions seem to arise before
thought. The thoughts (labels) are then added and I suppose this
       sort of keeps them alive.
My question is: do I take action, or surrender and allow? I am
job hunting in an impoverished job market. Have no intuitive
flashes. Does one gamble or play safe when there is no intuitive
guidance? Can't do anything about daughter, but grieve.

I think I need to attend to the following:
"1 – Life involves suffering. All beings are subject to old
age, sickness and death. They will inevitably experience some
disappointment, discomfort, sadness, anxiety or pain.
2 – The root cause of suffering is the craving for sensual
pleasure, for existence, for non-existence or for things to be
different than they are. Craving is fuelled by likes and
dislikes, driven by the illusion of ‘me’ and ‘mine’, which in
turn is due to misunderstanding the true nature of reality.
3 – Suffering ends with the ending of craving ..."

You are asking me to make life decisions for you, a little like
Dr. Laura (who I am definitely not).
My only thought is not resistance. Resisting causes suffering
       and also closes of opportunities.
       Love ya, Jed.

I am not looking for a Dr. Laura response. I am trying to end
suffering and understand that resisting what is causes
suffering. I am trying to decide whether I am supposed to change
that which I don't like, or learn to live with it. Learning to
live with it would be surrendering to it and allowing the
situation to continue. Changing would be accepting that the
situation is a problem and moving to another situation.
People seem to try something and quit if they dislike it. I like
the saying about different bucket, same s@#t, and realize I
might exchange one set of problems for another. Learning to
thrive in the bucket however it is, is what I think I need to
       aim for.
I like that truth realized people claim it makes no difference
what they are doing: it's all the same to them. I have had a
       taste of that.
In Spiritual Warfare, you give several examples of how you are
guided to take action. I am not getting any guidance and wonder
if this means I should sit tight and wait for it. Was it Mooji
who told somebody that if he didn't like living in a noisy
neighbourhood, he should move? This contradicts surrender. To
flee a bad scene or surrender to it: that is the question.

There is surrender to what is and there is stupidity. You can
surrender to good as well as bad, or you can surrender to the
thought of leaving. If urged to leaves, surrender to that.
Surrender is a subtle thing. You might start by surrendering to
the fact that (probably) the sun will come up tomorrow, but it
may not. Surrender also involves balance.
       Love ya, Jed.
