Jed,
Do you know anything about 5-meo-dmt? I haven't had an interest
in psychedelics since my early 20's, but from all that I've
read, the typical experience seems to be:
Ego obliteration in about 10 seconds, and for a duration of
minutes, rather than hours.
It is understood to have virtually no recreational potential,
and usually avoided by folks who are otherwise into entheogens.
Do you think it would it be useful for someone to experience an
approximation of ego-death?

Hi Jesse:
Thanks for asking that question because it raises a good point.
Some drug experience will give a temporary no-ego experience,
but the problem is it's temporary and often very impactful. What
happens is one then becomes focused on reproducing it for the
rest of their life. It's a trap that sticks you in searching
which will push it away, always a carrot. I'm not big on drug
induced experiences likes these. I don't think there is any real
value in the long run. If you do it, just do it for fun and know
it's not Truth.
Love ya, Jed.

I've always been more or less satisfied with living, so pretty
aimless in my approach to getting "real", or at least never
serious; more just a curiosity to me.
But lately, I'm suddenly finding the act of animating my
character to be really exhausting (mentally, obviously, but also
physically), and for lack of a better descriptor, depressing.
Nothing I can point to precipitated this shift. I just out of
nowhere developed a STRONG distaste for ego.
A reply is not really necessary. Just wanted to document this in
case it goes anywhere and I start posting SA shit here.

need relief from cerebration.
if i go looking for the "who" that's experiencing these
"thoughts" and wind up realizing no such person exists, then the
experience of thought no longer plagues "me", as there is then
no me to experience it.. right?
edit: in other words, does it take going that far?
this sh*t is getting OLD.

Dear Jesse:
No, you don't have to go that far, you have to go further.
Love ya, Jed.

Sometimes there's the inclination to read material. Lately when
that happens, it occurs to me, "you've been reading this stuff
for over ten years, but this is going to be the thing that puts
you over the edge? Really? INWARD OR BUST, PAL."
That genuinely resonates with me, so I don't read ontological
stuff much anymore. But I couldn't help emailing you for the
Jed-isms compilation anyway. When you didn't respond, I thought,
"see. It was a trap, and he's pointing to INWARD, YOU JACKASS."
Last night I read through both of the Jed-ism threads, though,
and I'll tell you right now it was exactly the correct thing.
I think the lesson here is don't get caught up in hard fast
rules, anti-dogmatic dogma etc.
Lastly, it seems like you can undercut any of this sh!t by just
suspending thought, or at least the belief in which. That's
still where I'm at at least.

Yeah, "suspending thought" isn't really accurate.
It's more like allowing thought, without any resistance, but
attaching no emotional/intellectual significance/energy to them.
