Question

Hi Jed,
For the past two and a half years I have been experiencing the
awakening process you describe in your books. For some time
now, I have had a particularly stubborn part of my "self" that
is really lingering. It seems to be the most resistant part of
my ego that is holding on and seems to be in the
physical/emotional body. But its the fact that its in both the
physical and emotional body that is cause for some confusion for
me - figuring out how much of each, and how to address it is why
Im writing you today.
There is a pressure/tightening behind the eyes, in my neck, left
arm and down the entire left side of my body. While there are
those very noticeable psychical components, this feeling also
seems to be associated with the fundamental fear that keeps me
identified with ego. Occasionally, thoughts arise and kind of
latch on to this feeling, creating a belief and convincing me
temporarily that there something to worry about, but that is
becoming increasingly clear that this is just the activity of
ego trying to keep be stuck in worry/fear.
But even when there is no thought/no belief, there is still this
present physical feeling, which has me wondering how much of
this should be worked through on a purely physical level. I
have had bad posture for a long time, and believe parts of my
neck and and spine compress, pinching nerves and causing
pressure throughout my body. Im doing physical practices like
massage, chiropractor, yoga, to help the process move along but
wondering if you have any advice. Im curious in general if
you've seen this situation of physical limitations prolonging
the awakening process.
At the end of the day, walking, breathing, sleeping...are
working. Naturally, as the detachment from ego continues, there
is less attachment to fear, and less stress in the body, which
is leading to less compression in the spine. My posture is also
improving throughout this process, but it all takes time. I
just wonder if you have any specific advice if there is a
smarter way to approach this.
Thank you!
Chris

Hi Jed,
it feels worth adding that I alternate between self and no-self
experiences, and the no-self experiences are getting longer and
more pleasant.
During the no-self experiences this physical/emotional feeling
is present, but it begins to merge with/evaporate into the
nothingness, which definitely feels like progress. But, then the
self re-appears, convincing me that I exist, that I am a
separate self and that I have a body, and the physical/emotional
sensation is used as proof of this. Its as if its saying "look!
see of course you exist, dont you feel that!"
Pain, I suppose is an easy thing for the ego to latch onto, and
this physical/emotional feeling is a form of pain. At least it
feels like it at times.
Thank you!

Hi Chris:
Thank you for sharing in your email. I you sense pain/discomfort
as blocking your T/R, you might be right, but your may be wrong.
Pain can be the body actually adjusting to T/R. My body was, and
is, pretty healthy and I experience little discomforts, but some
folk, UG Krishnamurti went through some pretty strange physical
adjustments around his experiences.
I have two vids that I would gladly send you, one on Chi Kung
and one on my method of Full Body Breathing. I think they would
prove helpful. Write me at cambodianashram@gmail.com
Much love and best wishes,
Jed.
