Is it all 180 degrees off.... Something to contemplate...

Here is a little thought experiment, give it a try:
Right now you are reading this and you think/presume/assume that
you are a living person. You seem to have all the right
qualities, you sense your environment and you appear to 'think'
about what to do next. You 'live' somewhere and have a job
(perhaps) and some family and friends around you. When you close
your eyes that appearance seems to leave you and when you open
them it seems to return. We could call this your waking state.
One the other side, we have a sleeping state. This is where that
apparent guy/girl seems to disappear and, to the degree that you
can remember them, you have dreams. Your dream recall is a like
thin slices of ham in a sandwich where the bread on each side is
yesterday and tomorrow. We call this the sleeping state (yeh, I
know.... so what Jed?).
My experience has led me to believe that we have everything, and
I mean literally everything, 180 degrees off. Have you ever felt
that? Have you ever looked around and wondered what was going
on, really wondered (perhaps a little like Escapist)... what the
heck is going on? If we are so clever and have 'dominion' over
this apparent earth... why are we screwing the whole thing up so
much? Many of the more primitive life forms here seem to be more
loving, more organized, less destructive, and perhaps would be
better at this whole earth stewardship thing. Perhaps dolphins,
whales, or lions could to a better job, given the opportunity.
What if your 'brain' is tuned into a limited range, or spectrum,
of sensations ... that's not even a 'what if'... it's rather
obvious. , And I'm sure you would agree that there are many
ranges of the spectrum that we are not aware of.
Could it be that when you think you are awake, you are really
asleep? AND, what if when you are asleep you are actually awake?
Could the only difference be that one level of existence has a
specific slice of the spectrum and another 'state' observes a
different slice. The challenge arises in the translation from
one level to another. Could this be why you have a challenge
remembering you night dreams.
Is it possible that you have, in your current state, been
limited (by various means) to seeing a slice of the spectrum and
interpreting it as one way of the other? Is it day or night?
I am curious what you think of this. Do you think that there is
something very strange about this world dream? Are you sure that
you know what it means to be 'awake' and 'asleep'? I value your
input.
Much love and stay healthy,
Jed.

There is no question that -- within the Dreamstate -- we are
severely limited to a subset of the spectrum. We even see
everything upside-down, which is righted as we interpret the
incoming data.
It’s entirely possible that when we dream we are awake and
asleep while we’re awake. My guess is we’re asleep in both
states, but we can perceive different slices of the spectrum in
the awake and asleep states.
There is a certain monotony and requirement for continuity in
the waking state. We’re walking around with one “camera” taking
a “continuous” shot. There is no cutting to different places or
even different angles while we’re awake.
Since I very rarely recall my dreams I can’t say for sure, but
my sense is in our sleeping state, the requirement for
continuity is lifted. The laws of physics may or may not apply.
Apparently, a common dream is one of flying without the aid of a
plane, for ex.
And, yes, there is something exceedingly strange about this
world dream. It feels somehow choreographed -- players on a
stage. Puppets who believe themselves to be volitional beings
but who ultimately are simply following the lines given them.

MMMMMMmm Me hums while tapping my lips with right hand and
keyboard with left. Ooooooh looky I created words. You Bonza :)
Brilliant wordsmithery again as per usual Jed, you get ones
squeeky thought cogs whirling which tends to make one explode
with Organic Thought Provoking Ecstasy.
All is indeed not what it seems. NLP comes to mind here. We are
such creative and inventive little blighters yet so gulible at
the same time.
Me thinks we are being led down the illusionay path of fear. Our
senses have been hacked and therefore are being rendered
senseless so to speak. We have literally handed over the 'wheel'
to a lie and the Liar/s are having a rather large field
day/month/year/decade/century/ millennium etc etc.
Just on a year ago now, I stood at the base of many Monolithic
and Megalithic structures in Peru which led me to be heard out
loud exclaim ' FUCK ME'! I was jolly amused that we are being
led to BE LIEve that at one time people could carve into
mountains a mindboggling bunch of structures, then devolve to
still rather mindboggling none the less structures ..........
with no mortar mind you, incrdeible shapes and sizes ( check out
the walls of sacsayhuamán above Cusco for example) and then to
rocks walls that belittle the technology of the initial
'builders'.
The reason I use these examples is to direct back to your
question Jed, "Is it possible that you have, in your current
state, been limited (by various means) to seeing a slice of the
spectrum and interpreting it as one way of the other?'
So my answer is Yeparoonie & indeedy do!
The resonance of the Lie echoing is via anybody that cares
unawares to carry the legends of BS shall we say ( or did I just
say) What a laugh hey! A cosmic one of massive proportions to
say the least.
I wrote a verse awhile ago that wigglled me to stop and grab
paper and pen.
"Song of Self"
Inhale the beauty that I feel
Exhale the Power of release
Easy, so easy
Existence!
Ah the wonder, the excitement
The expression of creation……………
I am beyond and behind the artistic flow
This is my language
This is how I speak in the world of dreams
Feel Me, I Am You
a Gift, a Song
I nurture the joy
I carry melodies through the symphony of life
My expansion is vast
My knowing complete
Enjoy Me, I Am You
The stars are my playground
The earth, my child
All upon her is me
I Am You
Feel Me
Thank you for sharing this wondertime Jed, it is so appreciated.
Now go grab a smile and wipe it all over your face

"Perhaps dolphins, whales, or lions could to a better job, given
the opportunity."
I've often thought an amazing M Night Shyamalan twist to this
whole story would be the part where Jesus said, "And the meek
shall inherit the earth." Judgement day or whatever it is comes
along and all the humans are wiped off earth. God and Jesus
laughing, "You poor egotistical shmoes! Meek!? YOU!??? No, we
meant nature! All the animals who dont try to fuck with
absolutely every goddamn thing under the sun!" *big eye roll*
Sorry to digress, on your topic/question, but no, I dont really
get it, why humans act what seems basically retarded. (I know
that's not like the socially accepted word anymore, but that's
how it seems/feels to me anyway and I don't have a better
descriptor.) It seems like that's due to ignorance largely.
(Being asleep to ones self? Believing in the dream? Being
unaware of ones true nature or self, or believing in things and
a self that are not? Being scared to face reality which results
in willful ignorance?)
What it means to be awake or asleep? These seem like different
descriptors for different experiences, maybe I'm not sure what
you're asking. Awake is awareness, asleep is believing a lie?
I appreciate the exercise of trying to dwell on it whatever the
case, ty.

can relate to the the 180 degrees but I find not words for it
Can only say what I think of the dreams at what we call night:
I remember my dreams in circa 25 out of 30 nights (but not lucid
so I cannot change anything in them) and sometimes in very much
detail, the only thing I never really can remember well is
if there was colour or was it all black and white?... it's
neither nor it seems and this I find very interesting but
haven't investigated, it seems there is a perception of a dream
story possible
that goes beyond the "normal" color range?
The dream fabric is furthermore something really strange when
you think about it, it is not dense as the waking state and
loses
it's time and space aspects ... something makes time, space and
causality fluid or probably better to say the centre of the
perception vanishes and gives birth to losely connected dream
material
but which is not different from the waking state
(pictures/thoughts/feelings) ...
I was more thinking as of a fading out than a 180 degrees off
I like my dreams very much, often very good entertainment,
sometimes more interesting than the waking state dreamland
The most exctasy like experience of a waking state I experienced
right after I woke up one morning where it felt as if the
problematic I (=EGO) had stayed on the other side and forgot to
appear
with me again in the normal waking state (came gradually back
within one week). Just found it interesting that it was just
right after waking up.
The 180 degree off yes I can somehow see that this makes sense
although it makes literally no sense at all.

Thank you all for your responses... and for contemplating my
suggestions. You all express yourselves quite eloquently....
so... dream on.
AND, BTW... never stop questioning.
Much love and stay healthy.

"Could it be that when you think you are awake, you are really
asleep?"
As i read that, there was a deep, lets say emotional response
inside my body. I dont know exactly why. I had that 'feeling'
several times in my life when...i would say hear or read
something that resonates with something inside me. Its a mixture
of desire, peace/being 'home' and a little bit of sadness, but
not i a negative way...more like when one hears music he loves.
Maybe this means nothing, but i wanted to 'thank you for that
short feeling'.
Beside that...i find that thought very interesting and worth
contemplating.
Who gives me the certitude that im awake right now and asleep at
night? It could easily be the opposite. Maybe its just a believe
which is planted at childhood.
Maybe im dreaming this, 'every day', and being really wake at
night when this body is asleep and EVERYTHING disapears. The
only thing this body cant remember that 'truth' is that hes
limited in perceptions which dont allow it to 'see' the reality.
Like most animals have different perceptions of the world and
therefore live in a complete different reality. Maybe this is
just a very small, limited view like when you sitting at home
looking through out the window and just seeing a small area of
the street, but pretending that this is everything there is. But
the fact is that there is MUCH MORE outside if one just would go
out the house.

Dear K:
That's the kind of thinking (non-thinking) that I enjoy in
others.
I suggest just gently contemplating the possibility.
Much love and stay well.

Hi Jed,
I hope you are keeping well!
Thank you for this.
For a while now I've been working with the sleeping state,
trying to better/deepen my 'understanding' of what's going on.
Specifically, I'm trying to 'wake up' or be lucid while
asleep/dreaming. I am obviously conscious if I am lucid
dreaming. And when this happens I try to look deeper, almost an
inquiry approach; how is this appearing, where is it coming
from, what and how is seeing/experiencing it? I can feel the
body moving, while at the same time see that it is peacefully
sleeping, heart rate can elevate, breathing change. And
sometimes, this isn't even happening, it just 'feels' that way
in the dream. So, this has been an interesting observation.
All the regular shenanigans happen; a nice dream or a nightmare.
Content is not important.
Another interesting observation is that I now prefer the
sleeping state and I am not sure why. There are obvious
differences, the main one being the transportation of the body
and inclusion of it in all things. Unless I am meditating, the
body is literally the center of all experience in the waking
state. There is more 'external' noise in the waking state; kids
needing attention, people talking, etc. There are unseen ( I
think I am on to something here), unanalyzed, 'pressures' to be
constantly in motion. That's interesting.
For me, there is a tenable friction in waking state to 'do'
something. Life is also definitely a little flat for a number of
reasons.
It seems to me the dream state is a 'clearer' perception, closer
to a 'natural' perception. What am I missing? Something is off,
that I know for sure. And I don't think it lies in the content
of either, but in the mechanism or how of the perception.
How do I get/go further Jed?!?! What am I missing?
