Be as aware as possible, but never believing anything you
experience...it's just real in your head... nowhere else,
Much love, Jed.

Is there ever an original thought? I don't know. What I really
mean is that it's not knowable. An original thought is not
knowable.
For anything (a sound, a sight, or a thought) to be recognized
it requires references, something that already exist, something
already in the perceiver's consciousness. What this means is
that anything perceived is contaminated with the old. So, in
this sense nothing is new. Unless, one is liberated from the
past, is fully opened up to the unknown, then every moment every
thought is new, how can it not be.

My thoughts don’t amount to much, can’t remember when I had an
interesting one. If ever something original came up it wasn’t a
thought -it was more of a knowing- and it only was original to
me.( someone else had it before). Three weeks later I forgot or
didn’t see anything special in the insight or thought. Jokes can
be original, or puns which I like; you have to let go of
concepts, ideas, anything preconceived and losing up to get in
the flow and make fun.
Anyway, things have been recycled since Adam.
I like the Alan Watts quote, but did read it wrong the first two
or three times : I read undeserved instead of ‘unreserved
opening of the mind to the truth;’ It probably reveals something
about me.
I have no (spiritual or other) ambitions at all, but being free
is the only thing that seems to do something for me, it stirs
the soul. Being programmed from birth I have come to
acknowledge the huge cramp in my soul and tension in my life
because of it. These last few years things loosened up, miracles
happened and so on and so forth. I have lost the past, don’t
remember much about her and am just curious about the future. I
would like more of this freedom. There’s possibilities I never
dreamt of and that are absolutely original to ‘me’ or whatever
you want to call it. My nightdreams show where she’s still
holding the reins. Now that’s interesting to me.
Thanks Jed for the for your rant, be well

I think I would basically say I cant do this exercise. I have
no idea how. Every thought I've ever had about anything
(actually, I dont even know what a thought is, I'm just using
the colloquial language here...) seems to just be based on the
experiences and awareness of those experiences and then
definitions of parts of the experience. But all experience and
languaging and everything was basically given to me, I dont have
any recollection of creating a single piece of it, so I have no
idea how I'd come up with something new. It seems I only know
how to use what I'm given. 🤷‍♂️

Yes Rog... I think pretty much everyone is in the same boat....
and you can take it a step further, although pretty stretchy....
if you can't have an original thought, then your sense of
ownership of other things (out there), would that also be a
situation of just more illusion. Yes, definitely a stretch, but
how about listing all the things you think you own.
Much love,
Jed

Every thought so far appears to be based on past memories.

I don't think it is possible to come up with an original
thought; however, in an unconditioned state, akin to 'Zen mind,
Beginner's Mind' or similar, then a thought may FEEL more
original (and therefore very convincing) - i.e. not bound up in
past experience (learning, memories etc.) However, this made me
think that these thoughts that genuinely feel original when they
are coming from a truth realised perspective may be better
described as independent - rather than original. But then I feel
myself falling down the semantic trap - is there a difference
between 'original' and 'independent'; here, with this particular
question?
