This dog barks (ala: UGK) about lock downs....
DIR By: Jed McKenna

Dear Reader:
Pretty much every reader of this post is in some state of
voluntary confinement at this time. So, what do you think will
come of it? Is it good, will it work, benefits and rewards, or
not.... are those words just meaningless expressions of duality?
I think this is more than a little similar to that classical
Biblical act of a village 'shunning' a person for some ill deed.
I'm not sure if it is actually biblical, but it lends an air of
authority to my b. s.
In the days of yore, if a village shunned you, it meant that no
one would interact with you, could respond to you, feed you,
nothing at all. You became invisible to the whole village, and
probably other villages who knew of said shunning. You would die
a slow and painful death of both your persona and then body. My
understanding was that it was much better to be hanged and get
it over with. I'm not a historian and don't know if I am
precisely accurate, but I am confident I have grasped the
basics.. of shunning. Is it really much different from what we
are currently experiencing, in it's infancy? A self-imposed form
of shunning?
What will the outcome of all this 'noise' be ? ... well... it
doesn't really matter because it will be what it will be, but
the little 'human' in me is verrrrry currrious..just the same.
While my head might be said to be in the clouds, for the moment,
my feet are... well, you know... a little smelly.
So, what will happen? Let's start with divorce court. Eventually
we will have to resort to the Islamic expedient of saying, 'I
divorce the' three times and that's it. Modern couples manage to
stay together by continually being apart. Am I being negative...
come on, let's get real folks.... of just wait a little while.
Then there is all those rent cheques, mortgage payments, utility
payments, previous divorce payments, or maybe private school
payments if you are a little better off than most. You might
note that many just came due on April 01. Is that ironic or
what. Whether you are a landlord of a tenant, commercial or
residential, this is going to get very complicated.
What else might come about? Are we going to see whackos going
off their anti-D meds and taking on your town through their
sights (all recently upgraded to include night vision)? I don't
know, but guns and ammo sales are about the only market that is
going up... in America. I don't have a gun, just the latest
blinding bright LED flashlight, and a blue laser that I used to
burn off pre-cancerous tags... I don't suppose they constitutes
a well prepped prepper.
So physical prepping seems to be all that the prepper folks
think about. How many instant noodles do you have on hand? Do
you have any idea how crappy they are? Yeh, I bought some too,
mostly just to give away when people come begging, and I have
already had two do that.
Enough of my garbage, what about your garbage, and I don't 'mean
the kind that is, or maybe was, taken away every week. And don't
think that lovely service that will last. There may come a time
when seeing (or smelling) the garbage truck is the highlight of
your day.
I don't think that prepping has anything much to do with
physical staples, I think they are missing a huge point. One has
to prepare with their mind, attitude and their spirit (just a
general term for something, chalk it up to NABS). What is mostly
offered in the west is either psychology (yeh, try to find a
shrink when this hit's the fan) or Judaeo-Christian religious
concepts... (Read: blind leading the blind). They are as useful
as a bandage on an amputations, IMHO.
There is plenty of new age woo-woo to be found but if you are
reading this you have probably already observed, studied and
discarded most of it. So, what is to be done?
On a practical level, let me offer you this. Don't see this as a
time off, a time to relax, a time to just sit around. In fact, I
suggest you become more busy than you have ever been. It might
range from contacting people you haven't talk to for a long
time, or cleaning all your shit out of the garage. If you want
to study, read or meditate, treat it as a deadly serious
necessity. Set time for it and stick to your schedules. I hate
schedules but now is not a wise time to ignore them. KEEP BUSY
but with things that are constructive and practical. Have an
exact time that you go to sleep and exact time you wake up. If
you need a nap, great! Set aside that exact time you need and
nap, then get back to work.
On a 'spiritual' level, treat this just like anything else. It's
a task, no matter who or what you study, make it a clearly
defined task. And BTW, do something that very few people seem to
be able to do, REALIZE THAT YOU WILL EVENTUALLY DROP YOUR BODY.
Everyone who has come along so far has had to face that reality.
Maybe you will live forever in some future realm, but now is
where you appear to be and if you want grow up and learn, it
must be with the raw material you appear to have been given.
So, what is all this doom and gloom I am presenting to you? It's
certainly not bliss-ninny material. I concede that. Here is my
position (for now, and it may change with tomorrows breakfast).
Bear with me.
One thing that I have observed over many decade is that there is
indeed a system in place. Sometimes it's subtle and sometimes
it's gross and rather easy to see. The thing I have noticed most
about it is that it, for zillions of silly reasons, almost
always lies to you and I. At one point about a month ago, Pres.
Trump gave a brief speech and said it would soon all be over and
we will forget it. He was quite upbeat. The next day it was
apparent that his handlers had had a chat with him... His eyes
and demeanor had done a 180. He didn't go from lie to truth, he
went from one lie to another.
As this was starting up here, I share with a few friends that
the virus would not be nearly as dangerous as what people and
government do. It's just going to be used as an excuse for many
not-so-nice impositions on citizens. Yes, there is a virus, and
it's not great, but there is a virus call government and it is
far less merciful.
Wake up, stop hiding under the covers, the 'situation' is real
and is going to call for much courage and understanding. Make
whatever preparations are necessary and reasonable, but please
do not neglect the reality. You WILL DIE, and, I don't think it
is anywhere as bad as the powers that be would like you think.
In fact, I think it will be the grandest and most wondrous day
you will ever experience. And what leads me to that conclusion
is that every system, culture, religion and the like says the
opposite. I suggest you go further than just questioning their
authority. I suggest you ignore it. We are all headed for a
wondrous time and it needs to be welcomed with open arms. Might
as well because resistance is not only a waste of energy, it's
futile.
Perhaps set a welcoming tone in your world, with everything.
Give it a shot and let me know your thoughts.
I wish you the best always.
Love ya, Jed.

Cheers, it's been a long time since I posted here or wrote you.
Anthony de Mello once said, “Enlightenment is absolute
cooperation with the inevitable."
This is easy to apply to the mundane -- like the irritatingly
slow driver in front of you -- but carried to it's fullest leads
to a sobering contemplation of memento mori. Perhaps COVID19 is
the first brush with memento mori for a lot of people. It sure
is for my daughter, who is locked down at her apartment in the
heart of Manhattan NYC. She's running through all kinds of
emotion. Most all I can do is be gentle and supportive.
In my experience, one of the biggest value of psychedelics was
what I now recognize as a near death experience. As the trip
began, I literally believed in order to continue I would have to
die. It was either continue and die or turn back and live. I was
confronted with my greatest fear as a go / no go decision. I
silently agonized over it until my curiosity finally overcame my
fear. I was ready to die to move on. Of course, I really didn't
die and the rest of the trip was sublime. Or did I?
I don't advocate psychedelics for everyone and discontinued
using them shortly after this experience. As Alan Watts has
said, "When the message is received, hang up the phone." I still
have friends who are stuck on certain psychoactive medicines as
if they cure everything. It's their privilege, no judgment. But
further.
There is a biblical passage about shunning, Romans 16:17 (KJV)
"Now I beseech you, brethren, mark them which cause divisions
and offences contrary to the doctrine which ye have learned; and
avoid them." In my younger days I was involved with a religious
group that would kick sinners out using this doctrine of "mark
and avoid." Seems all tribes have the most hatred for the
heretical former members.
I'm watching with interest as society struggles with 1) memento
mori and 2) the realization that their authority figures cannot
be trusted. I see various degrees of this: like people who see
the government BS but still trust the NY Times. Yesterday I
heard two recent popular podcasts calling for people to revolt.
One in the form of a rent, credit card and student debt payment
strike and the other who flat out says our failed leadership
should be thrown out en masse. "Now is the time for heads on
pikes."
The Chinese (ironic) curse comes to mind here: "May you live in
interesting times."
Someone ate bat soup in Wuhan and made the world interesting.
Cheers and stay safe.

The Warrior, in ancient traditions see circumstances that carry
the wild gift of change as a Challenge and never a curse or
blessing. They either accept them or leave them pass. Either
choice is accepted and then they act accordingly.
In this worldly challenge, the opportunity is thrown out to all
and the game is open. Ones base desire and aim of intent is now
more important than ever.
On the world scale a major possibility for civil unrest rides
high which could be a ploy by the initiators to lead the mice
into the trap, the 'sheep' through the gate or the flies into
the web.
Yes Jed, 'arms' sales have gone through the roof so to speak,
here in Australia bows and arrows are selling out like never
before. I have practiced archery for years and have spoken to a
number of sellers nationwide and none of them have ever seen
anything like this.
Yes I have seen the system in place a long long time as well. It
brings to mind the saying, "The system isn't broken, its made
this way'. For example, the governing 'bodies' that pass so
called food 'safe', movies classifications, company practises
and any other degrading ways in the guise of 'business' is
blatantly corrupt.
Its easier to have people BE LIEve a lie than to convince them
of the truth.
The virus I see is the same I have seen for years
now................... a mind virus.
The Telestics spoke of it, as did the Northern & Central
American. Here the Aboriginals did also.
I jokingly answer that nobody gets out alive if people ask what
I think. A light heart is vital and NEW cAGEs are dangerous.
I hold one open hand over my heart and another open to air for
you with wishes of clarity.
Many smiles from a Mountain.

Jed,
Much of what you say here makes a lot of sense to me. I
especially agree with the idea of ignoring the authorities. The
FDA and CDC blocked the early testing kits, then the one the CDC
developed failed, so the US lost precious weeks to assess the
scope of this "pandemic," which near as I can tell is somewhat
more transmissible and maybe slightly more deadly than most
flus.
We were lied to again to not use face masks, which is easily
seen through. It was probably a manipulation because the US was
short of masks, and they wanted the current inventory reserved
for medical professionals.
Oddly, much of America, at least, may recognize these lies, and
yet so many turn to the "authorities" to solve the "problem."
Perhaps this is a "devil you know" sort of thing. As a lifelong
libertarian, I've far less inclined to be fooled again.
As an active investor (with very little capital, sadly), I keep
up with the markets, and one thing I appreciate about them is
that market-participants have a built-in skepticism about the
information they are provided. Sophisticated investors hedge
their bets, and they are constantly on the look-out for both
risks and rewards. However, the manipulative acts of the Fed and
Treasury have been so pronounced recently that most of the smart
market players are basically all saying: "We are in unchartered
waters here. We have NO idea how this will unfold." Most, and I,
do believe we've not found a bottom as yet.
My best guess is that the virus will probably kill fewer than
expected, particularly on a net basis. (Apparently, non-COVID-19
death rates are down.) However, the economy will take many
quarters or more to recover, in part because of the lockdowns,
in part because of the massive debt levels that have been
amassed since 08. Many millions will effectively become wards of
the State, possibly myself included!
We're in a delicate place now, and another shock like an
earthquake may require a re-assessment of my guess. I note that
fairly major ones have hit UT and ID in recent weeks. CA has had
several minor ones. And the recent seismic activity in
Yellowstone is concerning.
It's entirely possible that this could all be part of a
cleansing process. Creative technological breakthroughs could
conceivably catapult us into a kind of Golden Age. I'd like to
think so, but I don't see how we bring that about based on lies.
And lies are the coin of the realm...which has always, of
course, been the case, but it seems especially pronounced now.
Queen Maya has taken things up a notch, hasn't she?
Memento mori is certainly indicated, now more than ever.

1. I *wish* I could treat this as a vacation and just enjoy my
quarantined time away from the silliness. It would be nice and
peaceful. Amusingly though, since I work in a grocery store,
I'm suddenly an "essential worker." 🙄 Also very funny
along those lines, I just saw a newspaper article about the
illegal immigrant farm helpers being declared essential too. I
bet that must really frustrate the Trump supporters. 😅
(You mean the people who help produce our food are worthwhile
people too!? Crazy! :P)
2. "Couples manage to stay together by continually being apart."
Since I work in an affluent area where people seem somewhat
fake, entitled, and like they probably secretly all hate each
other, I'm waiting very curiously to see how that impacts the
relationships myself. Usually all that money lets them go
escape each other, but right now, things is weeeeird.
Quarantine seems a bit of a pressure cooker. 😮 Guess
we'll see.

Thanks kindly for your input R, A, J, and C.
Excellent observations and considerable wisdom. Love A.W.'s
quote, ''when you have got the message, hang up the phone'.
Appreciate you working out there R. and yes A, I do think she
has taken it up a notch.
J, very good point, 'the system isn't broken, it was made that
way...' Could we apply that to humanity in general?
And, thanks for sharing your wisdom on P-delics C. Mature and
intelligent.
Best wishes to all,
Much love, Jed.

Every day it becomes more apparent to me the lockdown will cause
more harm ( death, suicides because of poverty and despair,
break down of small businesses, abuse of woman and children, a
chain of payment failures etc etc ) than it seeks to prevent.
Who benefits ? I would say the gun shops but then I don't live
in the US.
The lockdown is like being held hostage by the health system,
especially the lack of ICU's, knowing half the people in icu
will die and those that survive will never fully recover.
What's is this ????
I told my daughter not to let me go into an ICU; just to let me
die or recover, whatever. I'll not take part in this madness.
(though being alive right now is very interesting)
So these days I get up really early, go for a walk and very much
enjoy those very small birds that greet the sun with an enormous
amount of noise.
Every few days I ride my bicycle through the town looking for
former clients. One of them said "it is as it is". I had
nothing to say to that.
best to you all, have fun and keep well - jacoba

Yes Jed, an error has been made ................ not good nor
bad, just an error. Makes for an exciting 'Movie' to watch,
script and co-act in hey mate.
I'm sure you've heard that the darkest hour is before the dawn,
just how long the 'hour' goes on maybe is just waiting for
enough people to down tools and scream "fuck it! I QUIT'! and
stop paying via the acceptance of lies based on theories that
carry no experience.
Thanks for casting a ball out into the playing field Jed
.................. now lets see if humanity can go for a
touchdown.
