Jed rant on.... don't resist me now!
DIR By: Jed McKenna

---------------------------------------------------------
Resistance is a blessing and it's also an insidious invisible
filter.
Touch something like the desk you are sitting at. Close you
eyes. Now, when you just gently touch it you gently experience
it. When you push hard on it, it can be viewed also as it
pushing back. You experience somewhat more of the desk when
pushing harder. Now look at something close by and try to resist
it visually. How did you do? Just by watching and resisting what
happened.
There are two points to be make, the first is no matter how much
you resist the thing you look at, you don't change a thing. It's
all happening in your head. Number Two: the harder you try to
resist it, the more 'real' is becomes. This can be generalized.
Point 'C' is that resisting takes energy, a great deal of energy
and we all waste huge amounts of it resisting what is.
These are simple attempts to illustrate a profound (in my
opinion) point. You only experience what you resist. That's
sounds a little grandiose, but stick with me. Drop a rock in the
water. It's resists the rock, but very little and quickly
assumes its previous state. You could say the water experienced
the rock, but pretty gently.
Take an ax and chop a tree. There will be significant experience
and a lasting impression made in the tree.
Throw a rock through the air and compare that with throwing one
through a window. Equal and opposite reactions occur in all
cases. Resistance is followed by letting go. Can you imagine how
this applies in a relationship?
The end point is there is no experience when there is no
resistance. The universe disappears because Truth/Consciousness
is all one thing and there is nothing that could resist anything
else. Big leap, you bet, but it can and has been done.
What if in order for you to exist (as you currently do) all a
little bit of consciousness had to do was resist another little
piece. Can you get a sense of how much you resist in your
existence? You may even have trouble of thinking of things you
don't resist because they don't tend to persist. Don't resist
and it doesn't exist and certainly won't persist. It can be
applied to all experience and experience is all there is.
Is this true? Nah, just a story, but like all stories, try it on
and see how it fits. Maybe take a fantasy ride in a world where
you resist nothing. A wife or husband is a great place to start,
but just for an hour or two.
Love ya, Jed.
Love ya, Jed.

Wow! As usual right on time. The Jed train! Totally resonates
with me at this moment. I am practicing as we speak. Thank you
for this pointer. I will go further with it.

So with you on this one, Jed! 'No resistance' is not only my
longest running "spiritual practice" but when done assiduously
it is guaranteed to let me slide through the toughest days
without feeling slimed. The trick is to be in that mindset
continuously because trying not to resist something I'm already
strenuously resisting just causes more resistance.
But somehow in all the years of trying to practice this it never
occurred to me that the resistance itself was creating the
'reality' of the world. I just thought trying not to resist kept
me from wanting to shoot people. Whole lotta things bubbling in
my mind right now about the relationship between resistance and
fear and ego and belief and separation from Unity and Truth. Oh
yeah! Wow! Gotta ponder this!

Dear N:
Glad you got that little bit, and I highly discourage shooting
people as a solution. But how many times do we just do it in our
head. We get pissed and out come the heavy guns. I use to use a
beautiful imaginary crossbow what shot out love bombs. That was
in my hippy days. Now I know I am that love, as are you.
Love ya, Jed.

No matter how much a dick someone is, without you doing anything
they are going to die someday and so will you. (If we were
playing Oregon trail, the cause of death would be dysentry). No
need to resist. No need to resist resisting either.

I used to tell people if they are so angry at someone , it would
be more honest to just shoot them.

Ok i think this is a stupid notion, full of errors and
ignorance. Your request actually pisses me off i am resisting it
with such fury. In fact i am holding on for grim death, and you
are asking me to let go. I'm not sure you even know what you
are on about. But f@@k it here goes nothing.
A few minutes later, well i am at the point of leaving my body
and just going off into things. So far its either that or i am
here around the house organising my morning and witnessing a
huge dark nothing pervading everything, seeing the other side of
everything in anything my attention goes towards.
Was hugging my gf a few moments ago and it was like classic
tantra of merging into her and feeling past the limits of self.
Being pissed off with you is the brake mechanism that is slowly
tethering out these new experiences. The more furious i get
with you the closer i come to the resisting edge of my own self,
then just melt through into.....

I'm only just starting to realize how many things I subtly
resist every minute. I'm sitting here resisting all the emails
in my inbox at work for varying reasons. It's not until I
examine each one that I realize it's all to do with my
ego/image. I'm also resisting all of my colleagues for similar
reasons. Everything is a potential threat to my image.
The resistance to anything and everything is so constant that it
almost seems like it would be impossible to operate without it.

For the last few weeks, I've been trying this with the thinking
mind. Typically, my habit would be to try to fight it when it
gets agitated, and make it peaceful. However, this never works.
But letting it flow and listening to it, like listening to the
rain, and it's not a problem.

The thing I'm really noticing is that resistance is the very 1st
sign that an unquestioned belief has been offended, and is the
1st line of defense. (This must be what you meant about it being
beneficial.) Its only after the fact that I give it a name of
irritation, frustration, fear etc. And it sure seems that the
force of resistance corresponds to the level of what I END UP
DEFINING as fear based emotion. But if I identify and question
the hidden belief being defended then I can not only eliminate
the resistance and therefore the emotion, I can de-energize the
belief and rob the ego of fuel and structure. Pondering this
resistance thing is like a present that keeps getting better the
more I unwrap it!
