Jed rant on your spiritual experiences

       Dear Members:
One of you raised an issue that I think is worth expanding upon.
       It's about your spiritual experiences.
I would guess that almost everyone in the world has had some
kind of peak experience.. oneness, love, allness, God, angels,
winning an F-1 race, whatever it might be. Nothing wrong with
that. However, I would also guess that almost all of those
people want to repeat that experience. Why not? They can be very
wonderful and impactful. That's the challenge.
You think you have had a preview of 'Truth' and now you want
more. The full length feature movie in 3D. The power of that
earlier experience becomes a filter through which you view the
feature movie. You can get so stuck in anticipating what you
think it should be like that you completely miss what it's
       really like.
There is a 'you' (first challenge) and that you thinks 'it' had
the experience (second challenge) and that 'you' has attached a
level of importance to it (last challenge). Reality... there is
no you and that imaginary you didn't have it, it happened, and
that importance was just an act of illusory ego. One can easily
get stuck for a lifetime on this and I'm not exaggerating.
You never get to see the real movie because you are always
searching for that memory. Does this make sense to you?
I will make this mercifully short. Feedback welcome.
       Love ya, Jed.
P.S I am aware of the challenging work many of you are doing and
I do appreciate it. I know it's seldom easy, can be, but not
       usually.

Often times I read things here and I think "Did anyone actually
read the trilogy?" This idea of recapturing the God moment was
crushed out of existence for me in Damnedest. Succinctly
explained and laid to rest. Next.

Had lots of these experiences the last three years. Most of them
I can hardly recall. It’s of no importance to me. My present
experience is what counts. Experiences born newly every time.
And every one is just a mirror. In it you can clearly see where
“you” are, that is if you are aware!

I don't have that kind of challenges you ranted, Jed, as I have
never had any peak experiences, not even a climax, you know. ;D
My possible challenge is that according to various enlightenment
stories I have heard, I imagine that I have to have certain kind
of special experience/moment in order to reach T/R or H/A. As
for exactly what kind of experience it is, I have no idea.
Anyway, in my mind, it's something I have never experienced and
it's something not easy to acquired. This 'I' seems to have a
tendency to create difficulties for my life.
Luckily I already began to be aware of all these.

Although never cursed with any seductive peak experiences I
recognise the mechanism. It goes for all the wanting. Craving
the effect of states of being comes to mind which I have
associated with circumstances 'inducing' them. So I chased the
'right' circumstances, or tried to manipulate them, for the
repeated experience. The effect I wanted so much is simply
alleviation of wanting. Really dumb to spend so much energy on
walking in circles based on an even dumber assumption that
       something is lacking...  ::)

       @Jed
Would you classify experiences of the "mystical" or "sorceric"
as described in the works of Castaneda as spiritual?

There's a big difference between "peak experience" and "cosmic
unity, god consciousness, nirvana, samadhi, heaven, et al" on
many occasions over my life I have been "uplifted" "inspired"
"felt the spirit of god" "had the holy ghost" or in other words
had a spiritual experience due to something "I" was doing and
experiencing. Usually I asked for help (prayed) it's a great,
amazing feeling and I remember these experiences fondly, most
notably the ones where I was struggling or in pain and
"something" descended upon me and made it all better for a time.
These experiences I would call peak spiritual experiences, they
are NOT cosmic unity, god consciousness, or nirvana. Peak
spiritual experiences are like a bandaid, they fix you up in a
moment or give you some clarity when you need or ask for it. You
may feel "connected", have a sense of "camaraderie" but you are
still you, still separate, still begging for crumbs and Hey!
"You" got tossed a piece of stale bread, "You" won't starve,
       yay.
Cosmic consciousness or god mind is the above experience times
Infinity. It's when "You" disappear and are, for a time, swept
up and unified with the "Whole" the "Absolute" the "One". No
longer dual, everything shifts and enemies are your dearest
comrades, the lion does lay down with the lamb so to speak,
NOTHING matters, NOTHING is wrong, every fiber of your being
wants to explode love all over everyone and everything, simply
perfection. People will think you are crazy, they'll call each
other and say "Jesus! know1 is having a manic episode! We've got
to get him on meds quick before he...
But you KNOW what you experienced, you now no longer wonder what
the f*** is going on, you're clear about what it's about. Like
near death experiences where the person comes back to life and
says "Oh for the love of God NOOO! I don't want to be back here,
kill me now so I can go back!" People who have had a God
consciousness event spend their time trying to recreate it. Like
Jed say's above, you can literally spend your life on this dead
end search. In some ways this is what makes up a drug addict,
the constant search for a tiny sliver of this feeling, nothing
wrong with it, be my guest, but it ain't gonna give you what
you're after, unless of course you overdose, boom! T/R'ed.
The challenge then is to live here, knowing it's bull**** not
because you read it in some book but because you've EXPERIENCED
the difference, yes Jed you are right, the feeling is not
abiding, it fades but once you've known the Absolute, nothing is
ever the same, yes you can and will fall back into Maya, because
you find there is no path, no teaching, no help, if you don't
shut up about it the help you get will be a straight jacket and
       the joy of being institutionalized.
In Damnedest you said you weren't sure if one needed an event
like this to become T/R'ed, well, personally I don't think you
can become T/R'ed without it, I think it takes the knowledge of
the Absolute, that personal knowledge to get anywhere near
       enough steam for lift off.
Jed, you've certainly seen your fair share, what do you think
separates the men from the boys? The dilettantes from the pros?
It's pure desire based on knowledge of The One, The Absolute.
Nothing else has the juice to pull free of Maya, the Matrix,
whatever. H/A can be had without it but T/R? No way. So far for
me it's all about non dual, that's how I make this work and at
this point it's just like McDonalds... "I'm loving it!" But
McDonalds is s*** and so is this life when given the comparison
to the Absolute... It's a far far shore, God Consciousness, but
visiting it changed everything for "me".
       Feedback encouraged.

Goddamn know1 you captured that part about unity conciousness
perfectly. Exactly what I've been through almost 1 year ago.

I think I recognize myself in what you are saying. But I'm not
       seeing any solution...
How did God NOT tell me "Hey, motherfucker, check this shit
out!!! It's the best I've got, but you will NEVER HAVE IT AGAIN
for the REST OF YOUR LIFE!!!!"
How do you NOT get stuck for a lifetime on this????

       Dear Jed:
I totally relate. I have had many blissed out moments of pure
ecstasy. I was one that believed that was the state of
Enlightenment, that's what I was striving to become on a
full-time basis. Pure, light, compassionate, only do what's
right, selfless being that was always blissed out. Until I read
your books. I now know it's an alternate state of consciousness.
What a relief! I still have them once in a while, they are fun,
but now I see them for what they are. I am still a good person,
I have let go of the past, I have been able to let go of a lot,
but I find myself having challenges when it comes to feeling
self-righteous about how other people behave. It's stupid
really, I don't give a f**k anymore about what people think of
me. My time is precious. I don't want to waste it anymore. I
just need to calm the f**k down and allow it to unfold. I am
attached to the illusion of comfort. I get comfortable at
certain routines and I don't want it to change. Imagine that!?
But I have decided that I am going to let go of this one as
well. Letting go of the identification.
