Questions

Hi Jed,
Every time I try to phrase a question for you I realize I don't
know what I'm trying to ask. When I try to formulate a question
I realize I'm basing it on an assumption, which I'm not sure if
correct, so I end up not asking anything.
I'm not even sure I want T/R but I'm also kinda obsessive about
it, because everything in my life has become like those
questions I can't phrase. For example: "is changing my career
path a good idea?" assumes that there is such a thing as a "good
idea" which I'm no longer sure about.
The thing is that I'm not sure how to use S/A. What kind of
questions should I ask myself, and how to know if I'm making
progress or not? Asking myself "who is me?" feels like a dead
end. I either come up with the answer "nothing" but only because
that's what all the zen masters say (and not because I actually
realized it), either I end up with the answer that "me" is the
physical feeling of saying the word "me".
So here's my question: how should I proceed with S/A?

Dear EH:
Thank you for your post and question. Perhaps SA is not for
you... there are other approaches.
One of the problem is that people expect and answer.. to every
question. The other is they are impatient.

Actually, SA sounds like the most concrete way to do this work
for me. Can I go with different questions like why I like
science or why I have career ambitions and so on, and proceed
from there?
It sounds more like what Julie does in the enlightment books
(have only read the first 2 so far) and these kinds of things
are much easier for me to disect and inquire.

O.K. No problem with that. S/A is very simple, almost too simple
for some folks. Start a notebook, write in pen or pencil. NOT on
the computer.
Now, write something that is true. Let's say that you write: I
know that I am.
Now you ask the simple question: Is that true? You might write
yes, no, maybe, I don't know.
To your response to that you write: Is that true?
The are tricks and traps. You have to become like those
youngsters who drive folks nuts by asking ''WHY?" to everything.
You need to become a little crazy and very determined. Never
again ask ''why'' always ask ''is that true'' to whatever
arises.
S/A: I am reading Jed's response.
Q: Is that true?
S/A: Of course it's true, what do think I am, some kind of
idiot?
Q: Is that true? Is there a you?
S/A: I think there is.
Q: Is it true that ''I'' think?
and on and on it goes. You dig like a polar bear seeking a seal
under the ice.
To do it properly you have be a picky as heck, you have to be
childishly persistent, do it regularly for considerable time
until you realize, NOT THINK, you must realize that you know
nothing, never have, and with continued perseverance you will
realize that there is no earth, no universe, no ''thing'' at
all. Where you go after that.... well, you will have to find out
for yourself.
Do it like your life depends upon it.... is that true... I don't
know. I realize a long time ago that I know nothing and only am
in the human dream via a continuation of stories that are
fictitious fabrications. If there is a purpose to the human
dream, it is simply entertainment. Are you enjoy the show? Hey,
wait is minute, is anything I have said here, or anywhere, true?
Geez, I don't know.
If you think you are going insane then you are on the right
track.... it always feels a little crazy to go sane in an insane
world. Enjoy and write back anytime.
