Jed Rant: On Right Action
DIR By: Jed McKenna
Date: December 4, 2016, 10:53 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
Here is a response to a member's post with a little verbal
diahoriea thrown in. I hallucinate that it might be of value to
others so generalized it into a rant. The member's inquiry was
something like ''What's a good source of info on right action.''
Well... I think you just hooked me... here goes...
Who would determine what is ''right''? There is no ''you'' and
there is definitely no free will. You don't even know what your
next thought will be, much less what you are going to do about
it... because it's not ''your'' thought. You can't control these
"thoughts", much less your subsequent actions. Just try to stop
thinking for a few minutes... really try. Set about to spent ten
minutes not thinking and not doing. In my experiene there is no
such thing as ''right action'' :o :o :o
If one assumes there is a ''right'' action there must be a
''wrong'' action because this human experience is based on
polarities. The ancient Yin/Yang concept models this out
remarkably well as far as the human experience goes. ''Right''
action simply cannot be with a balancing/counter ''wrong''
action. From the human perspective I admit that the actions may
appear, but that is an appearance that disappearances itself
upon contemplation.
Such a term eagerly lends itself to those who want to manipulate
you into believe that some action, usually one they propose but
seldom live by, is right (for you!). That's just a load of
(please fill in you own words and make it as graphic as you
wish).
But wait... he said with baited breath... I might be wrong. It
is, in my experience, truthish, that I am always 100% wrong and
100% right, and so are you. Could this be ??? ??? ???
So... what if every action is/was a ''right action''? What if
there is no such thing as a wrong action? What is ''right'' and
''wrong'' are just made up by mind... and excellent source of
endless judgment, thinking, conceptualizing, story telling,
blaming, guilt, monkey-mind and good old-fashion entertainment
when understood and put in proper context.
You are 100% responsible and never at fault or guilty of
anything! :o :o :o I suggest you will find that a "right"
understanding, perhaps even ''Truthish", if you seek something
to live by. BUT, keep in mind, it applies to every other human
appearance as well. Nobody is at fault or guilty of anything
what-so-ever. Lawyers are welcome to join the forum at this
point :-\ :P :-*.
A more important facet of this discussion lies in what is going
on in you right now. Watch how your
Mayanic/ego-oriented-non-existent mind wants to argue against
the above assertions. You might even have a little grammar
teacher in your head saying something like ''Geez Jed, what kind
of grammar rules are you following :P :P :P ?" I don't follow
others and have few rules... I just do and that seems to be
quite sufficient, for me, because ''I'' am not in charge. I
suggest that such an approach is also sufficient for you. ;) ;)
;) ... perhaps it's even a ''right'' action :P :P :P. It may
even be exactly what is happening in your apparent life with
sans awareness of it.
If you really want to know about ''right'' and ''wrong'' action,
do what you think is right and only do that. Never, ever do
another action that you think is ''wrong''. How simple (and
difficult) can that be :-\ :-\ :-\ ? After a given action listen
to your body, listen to your stories, let all ''others'' be
without fault or guilt and stop listening to a pack of wolves
leading you to a shearing via NABS (New Age Bull S h i t) and
hideously distorted religions and philosophical teachings. The
answer to all questions lies within you, in fact, everything is
within you.. there is no ''out there'' ''out there''. How could
you possibly do ''wong'' when there is no one to do wrong to.
How can a concept/thought/memory hurt anyone... be ''wrong'' in
any way? It doesn't even exists.
Your thoughts are welcome below... but I request you keep in
mind they aren't ''yours''... they could be expressed more
accurately as ''our'' thoughts... or maybe ''just'' thoughts.
Thinking about this can lead one to not wanting to express much
at all, not feeling a need to, and that is also a perfectly
''right'' and perfectly ''wrong'' action.
I also recommendd listening intently to what others say but
never believing them... and the wiser amoug you will listen
intently to themselves and also never believe a word their mind
says. How could one believe something that doesn't exist? Beyond
me... :P :o 8).
Love ya, Jed

It's been "my" experience that no one does anything "wrong"
given their model of the world. Who would look at something and
think "this is definitely 100% wrong, but I'm going to do it
anyway"?
Besides, labeling something "right" or "wrong" runs off the
assumption that the thing that happened could have happened any
other way than it did. Mind games, thoughts trying to run back
to the past and project an alternate version of events that
would lead to an alternate future... Fun to watch and toy with,
totally useless unless a mental framework to be used in dealing
with the future is updated because of the thought (aka
"learning"). :D
And, interesting point about controlling thoughts... All
"decision" is either totally automatic or done in response to a
thought... but if there's no controlling thoughts (and there
isn't), then there's no controlling action either... Which tears
apart "control" as a concept. Which weakens "self" as a concept.
On and on it goes...
Of course, my ego automatically senses the losing position and
retreats to a more defensible place. "Well, *I* decide which
thought to believe." Good god, it never lets up ::)

Are you kidding? Many people say and do exactly that: This is
100% wrong, and I'm going to do it anyways. Um, me, for example.

dispite the idea of right and wrong. 100% wrong is 100%wrong. If
someone still did it, there must have been something right about
it even if it was .05% right.

Like Jed said... well, I think he said it, I haven't re-read it,
but I think he said: it's 100% wrong AND 100% right, because, in
Truth (if I may use that word vainly) there is no right and no
wrong... just IS (everything else is just what your imaginary
"I" believes it to be, judging its ass off until the cows come
home or the fat lady sings... whatever comes first).

Then you must not actually think it's "wrong." ;) You might be
confusing societal definitions with personal ones. Lots of
people don't give a flying fart about what society or others
determine "wrong." But it could be argued that every individual
person takes the choice that they think "best," even if that
"best" is just for, by, and of themselves because of their
belief in separation.
By extension, one could argue that whole "best of all possible
worlds" thing to be trueish.
No one smokes a joint or shoots up a school thinking "this is so
wrong" unless they're thinking from an imagined "other's" point
of view. They do it because, on some level, they get some
benefit from it (at least some perceived benefit). As far as I
can tell, that's every human action in a nutshell.

Dear Posters:
Thank you for your posts. You are all 100% correct and 100%
out-to-lunch... which is what I am eating right now. A member
mentioned ''rules'' so here is an ''Rules Set'' that one can
observer in self and others quite readily when aware of them.
My/My: My rules for me and my rules for you. This type of person
is often quite quick to tell others what to do or what they
expect of them.
My: My rules for you and I don't give a crap what rules you use.
No/My: I don't have any rules for me but I have some for you ...
if you are will to listen.
My/Your: My rules for me and your rules for you. This person
tends to see both sides and thus is usually reticent to tell
others what to do.
Now... these are a natural part of the human function and
experience. I suggest you take a moment and use them as a
filter... on yourself first of all... and then on those closest
too you. The rules fit into different domains... what one should
do in a relationship, the old right/wrong argument, how one
should behave in business, etc. This Rules Set can also be seen
from a distance by observing certain body language... and I am
pretty auditory so I can do it reasonably well over Skype.
So, what rules set does Mr. Trump follow? What would a good
communicator use... or a bad one? What rules do institutions
follow... schools, governments, churches... how about your
parents, girlfriend, boyfriend, your pet dog or cat. That last
one is definitely my rules for me and screw you... but in
certain contexts that can be quite effective.
All humans have rules and they are not bad, however, being aware
of them can be quite useful. It has nothing to do with T/R but
quite a bit with H/A and broadening one's understanding of the
human experience. Ramana had Rules, Nisargadatta has Rules and
was quite vocal about them at times. Your Rules are pretty much
as set habit, although those who are very response flexible will
pick and choose depending upon a given context/relationship. I
suggest you play with them and make some effort to find out
other's Rules.
Your feedback is always welcome.
Love ya, Jed.

and Your rules for you. many common.
