Lovely Kate, enjoy it as I am sure those loving animals do.
Those bastards are already T/R. Is 'nothing' fair?
Snuggles... Jed.

Sometimes I share the deepest convo's with my dog (a real dog
whisperer :P). Best thing is he never talks back. Loves to
cuddle. Doesn't care what crap you say as long as you don't
forget to share your food. When it looks like I caught his
attention with my craptalks he gives me this interested look
(tilts his head sideways), kills the convo by licking his .. and
goes back to sleep.
Just like Jane who choose to live like Tarzan.

Been through 2 marriages and 1 long term relationship, all of
them dominated by idiotic, immature, counter-productive behavior
on both sides. But it doesn't have to be that way. I've been in
a relationship now for 4 and a half years and it is a thing of
beauty. Not only do we not fight or engage in meaningless and
destructive power struggles, but we actively seek out and enjoy
each other's company. This is primarily because, having met
through A Course in Miracles, we are both dedicated to having a
Holy, as opposed to special, Relationship. This entails not only
being like minded as per awakening, but recognizing that we are
One Mind and all differences are of the ego. This does not mean
that we have the same preferences, merely that we try to always
honor and respect the other's journey, and to be a mirror of the
Love that is what we, all of us, really are, beneath the fear
based (and generated)masks and trappings of the ego. This
relationship has been the great blessing of my life, and is a
constant source of gratitude. I would wish a similar
relationship for everyone who appears to be in this world.

I've been aware of many of our patterns (my wife and I) for
quite a while now. My main issue at the moment still seems to be
more easily recognising immature behaviour in her, than in
myself.
I'm trying to become more aware of the stupid, unproductive
things I do like scorekeeping of who has done what tasks that
day, of who has been less/more attentive to our son. The other
day I picked up a plate she had just used and placed it in the
dishwasher. I then found myself waiting with baited breath to
see if she would acknowledge my task, and mentally scolded her
for being too busy looking at facebook on her phone for her to
even notice. Only seconds later she said "thankyou, sweetie" and
I was forced to acknowledge (secretly) how petty I really am.
So many of our converstations and disagreements are little more
than 2 childish idiots dancing around what really needs to be
said, and instead choosing to guilt/manipulate the other into
doing what we want. So many arguments could be easily put aside
and moved on from without the need to be right getting in the
way.
I could go on forever... At the moment I'm trying to see my
marriage as a way for myself to face my own conflicts and
evolve. It's proving to be a slow process.

I will offer that being in a long term relationship has revealed
the most insidious and/or fcuked-up parts of ego that I never
want to acknowledge.
Not only romantic relationships, but close friendships as well.

Who makes anything good or evil? A sense of "me". A belief that
i am right. A belief that i am actually capable of rightly
evaluating what is happening. The relationship in which this is
most painfully happening is with my 9 y.o. son. I try to "help"
him. At some point i even tried to help him not make my
mistakes, to help him be a better version of me. This must have
felt like insanity.

I agree with Jesse, close relationships reveal parts of yourself
you do not want to acknowledge or deal with. I'm experiencing
this as we speak and trying to stick with the feeling because I
believe their is an underlying root cause of it and I dont want
to ignore and have it just keep repeating over and over, I
just dont feel im mature enough to whole heartedly surrender

Our 40th anniversary will be this January 1st. 4 children & 4
grandchildren all are choosing to be here for thanksgiving. They
like each other. The tree of knowledge of good and evil is
versus the tree of life. This is a hard lesson, but one worth
learning & putting into practice. Choose life, preferably the
resurrected life (the life which has been tempered by death).

yeah spot on mate. That dual tape recorder bit is awesome.
Been through a lot of this with the wifey. We've been through
violence, depression, happiness, fear, death, birth - all to
what I would see as extremes, certainly against my expectations
and childhood. We used to always remark about how much of a
soapy we were. But we're better. We're getting further everyday,
I would not have been able to get over myself with out the help
of the wifey. I'm not a self-sacrificial lamb or realised we
are two parts of a whole kind of thing, what I mean is it has
helped in the complete destruction process and I do not believe
it would have been so expedited without the help of the wifey.
You get what you want out of things, and my marriage is no
exception. I've been married years, been on the jed train for
years and never brought it up with her, never really ever tried
to overtly raise her level of awareness; the trilogy has been my
secret mistress. What I have noticed though as I've become less
insistent on existing, she has responded in kind. It could have
just been put down to experience - perhaps we have been through
a lot together and bonded, but I have one realisation on this. I
sure as shit have not gained anything from my marriage. This is
a completely positive emote. It has been destructive and I am
thankful for that. I have less attachments and believe less in
myself than I used to be. Yes, we are still together and there
is no one else I want to really spend time with and Do I still
marvel at how unproductive I am? constantly and it's a great
source of entertainment. especially when I remember that I get
more of a rush giving in and going against my ego, I hope this
thrill never dies.
