Since there has been brought up, I thought about creating this

I'd suggest a plain old dire wolf.
Maybe the last one in the cave, where he goes back to because he
wants pelts for something.
Or a dire wolf that has been plaguing the area, say the farm
woman asks him to get rid of it, in exchange for letting him
crash at her farm.
There could also be a thing with the symbiosis, say making a few
red streaks in its fur, and you could say it had a hint of
yellow on one of its eyebrows for further plot development.
I wouldn't suggest something too different, he already has quite
a lot of new stuff that needs to be played around with already
so something over the top like unicorns, undead horse, a
mechanical horse(in the maneator stash) and dragons would be too
much. Plus it would probably devalue the 2 transporter archer
people.

The big pig ot boar kind animal that took a liking to igniz
maybe? To me it looks like some kind of flag ;D

the griffin is a good choise because, if the can grow to their
normal size, they can serve as a mount.
i think that the dragon it's not so good considering a number of
reasons:
1.-dragons in Zectas history are of the family of the reptiles,
that are smoke's nemesis, with him not knowing
2.-thanks to igniz he got a good deal of fire affinity and if he
max out he can learn the book that Darius gave him (the one that
summons a Magma Dragon)
to me he should get a bird like pet or something that could fly,
because he can fly, and having a pet that must follow on foot
while he flies would draw a lot of attention.
one thing i want tho ask, can a player have a pet and a mount or
do they have tho choose?

I don't think a Baby - Dragon would be that bad. :-\
Dragons are usually long lived creatures so a baby would
probably stay young for a long time and should be next to
useless.
Though I don't think Smoke would go for a "cute" pet.

love the story so far...
for a pet i would go with a shadow creature like a Wraith or
living shadow, and let it be able to combine with the flame
spirit and become a purple scary shadow :P

I think a Roc or Griffin would be the best fit. As others have
said flying should be incorporated in there somehow.

What about a dog i dont know what's the breed but usually some
beggars have a dog companion ... well in my place beggar is like
that idk about you guys.
and if some circumstances or event that his pet dog got
something like awesome skills because smoke got like mastery in
elematal magic example he mastered fire because of this his pet
dog gain fire affinity which enable the dog to mutual exist with
igniz(imagine a fire type suicune and his hair is blazing purple
flame because of igniz :D)
additional idea if he manage to get old giro's beggar belt or
his father and change it to collar belt .... and when his pet
transform igniz will become a gem like in his pet's collar belt
