Mk 1 16 valve kr on carbs
By: Cranky Date: September 20, 2015, 6:28 am

Having already done one mk1 16 valve conversion using k jet and
finding it worked great, I'm now doing another one, this time
I'm thinking of using carbs, Jason recommend twin 40,s as its a
standard kr1.8, my question is will it be as good or better than
injection? Also what do you do with the breather on the front of
the engine? Do the carbs require constant adjustment, or can you
set them up properly and drive on, thanks

It depends on how you view it...
Any performance part will only help make more power where there
is a restriction in the part it's replacing. In terms of a std
KR, kjet does a decent job in terms of fuel and air supply. On a
non injection car it's often easier to fit carbs than plumb in a
fuel K system from old parts of unknown history, plus a power
gain is possible if used with the right / high flow inlet
manifold...expect power to be around 150hp with 40's and a
decent exhaust.
