About time I officially said Hello!
By: Fro Date: December 11, 2013, 12:46 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
       Hi Everyone,
I've been visiting this site for a while now, so I thought it
was about time I introduced myself.
I'm from North London and am a currently working as a Roadside
Service Patrol, however my background is very much Motorsport
biased. I've previously worked for M-Sport (Ford WRC), Backdraft
Mototsport (Lamborghini Gallardo GTs), Aston Martin, Jaguar,
Land Rover, Ford and NGK Spark Plugs (UK HQ). I won't bore
anyone with my less interesting roles, but my true passion has
always been all things VAG and Mk1 Golf GTIs in particular.
I currently have a couple of projects, one of which is a Peugeot
106 GTI Track Car that I use for upsetting people in expensive
stuff, but the proper project is of course my Mk1 Golf GTI
Campaign Track Car (sorry purists). I've owned my Mk1 since 2001
and was already pretty modified with a 1.9 8v GTI Engineering
engine, twin 7 inch headlamp, sport line interior, etc. Later
the car become more track focused, new engine, twin 45 webers,
race seats, etc. Following lots of bad luck with car, in October
2007 I decided enough was enough and I took it off the road for
       a rebuild.
In 2013, the project has started rolling again following a
serious diet and a full acid dip, the car is currently being
seam welded and a full CDS cage to go in.
Feel free to say hello or ask me anything you want to know.
       Thanks,
       Fro

       Hi Fro and great intro....
Mk1 sounds good and don't worry about upsetting anyone with it
being a Campaign shell....my race car build is also a Campaign
so you certainly wont get any criticism from me ;)
So when are you gonna get a build thread on here...hint ;D

       Hello and welcome :)
We all love pictures, get them up (I would love to read about
the Pug as much as the Golf, maybe a thread for each?).
And I would not worry about it being a campaign, it's a shell at
the end of the day that you make the most of, if it's rust free
then it's a good base to start with. I think the general focus
of the people here is track, not scene so I doubt anyone would
       take offence!

       Hi Fro and welcome !!
       That's a full and varied c.v!
I doubt anyone will frown on your base mk1 choice here...as Tom
said, a shell is a shell...theres plenty of mint campaign show
cars out there for those that it matters too.
If its different, quick or fun bring it on...even if it is
       french !! I own a frenchy too...306 rallye...just going up for
sale...I "know" im going to miss it "hugely"!...enter stage left
a mk2 GTi to replace it so not all bad...106 GTi's are
brilliant!....threads on both would be great to see.

Thank you for the welcome chaps!
Once I get my photos sorted, I'll start a build thread for the
Mk1 and another for the 106!
