As well as our own products JMR will be offering some of the
better products on the market and trying to save you a few quid
as well, starting with...
Newman Cams...
Newman had a bit of bad press a while ago with the MK2
championship...issues with incorrect keyway positions
etc...which in fact was a sub-contract fault rather than
in-house. Well, after seeing some of the recent quality and
performance from some of their products...race 8v profile making
over 170hp in a budget 1800 hillclimb engine... and a long
conversation with Ken Newman, we're happy to sell their
products, in fact, I've fitted them in two customer heads in
recent weeks...one road & one hillclimb...results to follow when
they hit the rollers.
Piper Cams...
Piper have been producing cams for some of the top race teams in
europe. My machinist uses nothing but Piper these day's in his
customer engines...417hp @8,700rpm & 250+ib/ft from his Jag V6
hillclimb engine say's they know a thing or two about cam
design!...and after dealing with them myself I have some custom
profiles coming along with springs for a specific
application...dyno results to follow once the engine is finished
in the next few weeks.
There will be a discount structure to follow, but in the mean
time contact us with your requirements if your considering
either of the above for a project.

Hi Jason,
A long shot perhaps ...
Going back to Newman`s bad press and the issues involved.
Do you have a `timeline / period` of when the issues evolved and
were resolved please ?
My 16v 9A engine was fitted with 290`Newman`s in late 2005, it
did 80 road / running in miles OK and has been stored since,
with only the occasional run up.
Apart from any `lack of use` issues should I be concerned ?
Thank you.
Regards
Andrew

Hi Andrew
I believe it was more circa 2006/2007...when the cams were done
initially for the VW MK2 championship cars.
I've used new cams recently & used cams dating back to around
2007/2008 manufacture in a used application, all with no issues
to date.
May not hurt to check the cam timing anyway tho, to make sure
its right at the very least.
