By: BurtyP Date: August 9, 2011, 3:54 am

Erm.. right then.. ermm..
Theme has been set by James Kennedy for August 'Pets at Home' ..
hey don't blame me i didn't set it!..
If you don't have a pet i would suggest either an artistic photo
of the pets supply superstore, or find a friend who has nice
puppies..
Going to be a strange one this month i think :o/
Post your entries here..

Why not? Surely with a bit of imagination this could be a good
theme? As with anything creative it is how you push at the
boundaries of the theme that enables you to create something
new.
So don't start thinking "I haven't got a pet so I can't enter".
Thats a very literal interpretation of the theme and it would be
disappointing if all that turned up was pictures of Blackie the
cat looking cute. Play with the theme, examine it, explore it
and you never know ... something interesting may come out of it.
For example - you may look at this like an art project, so in
true art teacher style here are some suggested ways you could
examine the theme:
1) You could examine what makes a pet "a pet"? Why this animal
for a pet and not that one?
2) Why do humans keep pets? What is it in our nature that we
like to nuture things not of our genome?
3) The crossover between pets and meat. Some people keep
chickens/ducks/rabbits/pigs etc as pets others keep them as
foodstock?
Anyway - thats just my tuppence worth. In the meantime my
thinkmeatz will be trying to come up with an angle that I would
like to see.
And I know that once some of the real photographers in the
competition start thinking about it we will have some great
interpretations of the theme posted.
