I wasn't even upset that everyone behaved.

I know you are joking there, but in any case someone misbehaving
so much that a spanking was needed would be the exception rather
than the rule for this kind of parties, right?
       [/quote]
Definitely the exception, though not totally unheard of.
However, at this type of party where there is a fair amount of
supervision most of the time, or they're rather confined to an
area, it's much less common. It might be more likely at an
overnighter, where the supervision is close to non-existent
after a while, but even then, it's pretty rare.

Looks like I never really started a trick or treating thread, so
       I'll just put this here.
It's 5:45 in the morning, and I'm sitting here, dreading waking
the kids, and sipping from a cup of kid's coffee.
It was raining heavy yesterday afternoon, but with breaks and
some lighter rain. I'd sorted through the Halloween stuff. We
didn't put things like spider webs out, that are pretty water
soluble, but the rest of the stuff went out, though we were
careful with the electrical stuff (putting small boards down and
putting tarps over and under a lot of it). We still got a lot
of decorations out, and I think it looked pretty good.
For my young adult friends who came over and helped with the set
up, we made grilled sandwiches with tomato soup and chips
(mostly Fritos, which seems to be the favorite choice for that
       combination).
We were really starting to worry by after school, but it had
stopped by 5pm, except for basically some sprinkles and mist.
I'd made chicken and dumplings and vegetable beef stew (with
corn bread), so the boys still started eating about 5:30pm.
While it was colder than we'd expected (I thought they'd
predicted low 60s, but it was mid 50s at 6pm), there wasn't any
more rain before I went to bed last night. I think my first
trick or treater was about 6:15 (a little girl who wasn't much
more than a toddler, and who's dad was driving her around), and
the last one didn't come until nearly 8:45 (a couple of kids who
were older elementary or maybe even middle school). I know we
had close to our regular numbers - well over a hundred kids. I
also know a lot of the parents with the kids were grateful for
       my warm beverage station.
There might have been a couple of new families in the
neighborhood. There was one group of kids pretty early who'd
never heard of my haunted yard. Three of them were older
elementary, but they had a younger kid. The younger kid came
around the side with one of the older kids, but then had to
wait, while that older kid ran back and explored the yard for a
few minutes. There was also a kid in facepaint that I've seen
on line before. They hadn't done a great job of it (it's
supposed to look like your face is being unzipped, but his
mostly looked like just a red and white pattern), but we talked
about makeup for a bit. I think he was about Connor's age, and
he was asking about my kids, so it wouldn't surprise me to see
       him back.
Most of the guys went with the costumes they had planned. Most
of them wore thermals under their costumes, but it really wasn't
cold, just a bit chilly, so they all got to wear their costumes
the way they thought best. Kenny actually liked his wet weather
plan so much that he took a group of the younger kids out and he
was dressed as a vampire, carrying an umbrella with bats hanging
       from it. It looked great.
The bad part about a night like this is getting the kids into
bed. No one wanted to risk a spanking on Halloween night, so
the kids were obedient, but they just can't help being keyed up
and excited, so it did take a while, and I don't think any of us
got to bed on time. And now it's time to go start the waking
       process.

Sounds like a nice day in spite of the questionable weather. It
will be interesting if the younger neighborhood boy becomes a
       regular visitor.

       What's "kid's coffee"?

Kenny's bat umbrella does sound great.
