20 Oct 2018: Busy Day - Greg and Huck
By: Jack Date: October 20, 2018, 6:39 pm
       ---------------------------------------------------------
So, I mentioned in his bio thread that Greg came home this
weekend. There were a variety of reasons.
After a trip through traffic, he arrived home about suppertime
last night. We didn't do anything special, and he didn't really
have any plans, but he helped me warm up plates for C&C, then he
       and I ate together.
While we were eating, Huck showed up. I haven't known him and
Huck to be special friends, but I haven't known them not to get
along either. Huck is a bit older than Greg, but not a ton.
Huck and Greg hung out and Zeke and Liam and the Worley boys
ended up joining them. I ended up with a dozen upperclassmen
and young adults taking over the game room and theater last
night, and most of them slept down there in sleeping bags.
Besides those boys, Garrett Riley joined us, and so did Perry,
Joe, Jerry Costas, Cole Cavanaugh, Gordy Sinor, and Wyatt Jones
(an employee of mine). After I fed Greg dinner, they still
ended up making nachos and pizza rolls and popcorn (and a candy
and soda run), while they ran a double feature of A Fistful of
       Dollars and Enter the Dragon.
This morning, Huck was telling them about 'the old days' and me
playing cartoons while they got hyped up on breakfast cereal, so
that's what happened. I programed a few hours of shorts (Looney
Tunes, Tiny Tunes, and Animaniacs mostly) with a Batman
Adventures episode. Batman was a Scarecrow appearance, and most
of the rest were Halloween-themed, of course.
As of now, they've headed into town to visit Thrillvania. They
did wander in and out as individuals, but, as a group, they
spent most of the day here. I love little kids, but the older
guys like this are different, and they're also a lot of fun, so
it was a pretty great day.
Besides that, I did go to Kenny's soccer game, which started at
9:30 this morning. Despite an unpleasant start, it warmed up
and was clear and sunny for most of the day, so it was really
       nice overall.

Running a little late today, but I just wanted to take a minute
to say that Greg did have a great weekend. He and I had a talk
about his college plans, and he's going to slow down a bit,
continue to take his chemistry classes, but take some computer
electives to decide if it's worth changing his major completely
(a lot of the basic courses are generic to almost everything, so
it's not like he'll have to start completely over). I think I
convinced him that I'm happy with him spending a little time in
college, and that it won't hurt him (or me) for him to be sure
       he's doing what he prefers.
We did get him a good Halloween costume. With boys, showing
skin isn't as necessary to be 'hot' as it is with girls, so he
borrowed one of my Victorian-style vests and we found a Regency
shirt (laced collar and blouses sleeves) that fit him. He's
going to do a basic vampire (made sure he had the make up and
got him a set of comfortable fake fangs). If it's warm, he can
do the vest with no shirt, but he has the shirt in case it's
       chilly.
Other than that, he didn't end up doing as much with the other
guys as he'd hoped, but they had a great time at Thrillvania,
and he had time to catch up on some sleep, have some home cooked
meals, and to just relax and enjoy some time with the guys. He
had to leave about 2pm yesterday, but I think he really enjoyed
       himself.
