Sept 18 Spanking Report

There have been a few spankings to report this month, though the
first ones I gave (not including school paddlings) were last
night.
Devon got in trouble for chores last night. I have been trying
to give him some extra leeway because of football. Also, I
realize that, no matter what the facts are, you have to consider
how a kid percieve's things when you're punishing them, if you
want it to make a real perception. Either way, Devon and Ryan
Tucker were arguing about chores last night when I was checking
on things, which of course caught my attention. Remember that
the two of them are 8th graders, Jake is a 7th grader, and the
three of them share a bedroom when Jake and Ryan are over here,
which is usually 2 to 4 days a week (usually T, Th, and many
weekends).
The thing about Ryan Tucker is that he's one of those kids who
grew up in a really slovenly household and now he hates it and
is pretty mean. The two of them were arguing because Devon has
been half-assing some of his chores, and Jake was getting tired
of having to clean up after him or put up with the mess. Now, I
would have been willing to just talk this out, but Devon was
already on two strikes and a work off, and I've already been
working with him, so he didn't have much in the way of room to
spare. It turns out that he hadn't done anything in the
bathroom or taken out the trash. He wasn't happy about it, but I
told him it was time to clear his slate. He protested and tried
to play the football card, but I'd already warned him he'd used
all his wiggle room, so we adjourned to my office. I did let
him take the school style swats (six with a bath brush, but not
too hard - enough to get some good yelps and some sobs, but not
to the point of actual crying... not quite). I also pointed out
that this went down to time management, since he should realize
it's quicker to do just the chores than to spend time arguing
with his brothers, trying to cover up he didn't do them, then
having to deal with me.

The other case was a quick twofer with Connor and Curtis just
playing around and not wanting to get in the bath. It barely
qualified as a real spanking. I did strip them naked (since it
was bath time). The two of them don't go over my lap
side-by-side anymore, but I put them each over one leg, then
spanked back and forth until they were both obviously starting
to cry. We hugged a bit, then talked about minding and
following routine, then they decided they wanted to get in the
bath more than they wanted to get the Tailblazer for 'real
spankings'.

So Devon finally got in chores trouble. Paraphrasing from the
title of a Garcia Marquez novel, let's call it Chronicle of a
Spanking Foretold. Is the school style spanking a preferable
option because it's shorter or because it's less childish? Was
it still bare bottom or over trousers?

It was still bare. I'm honestly not sure why they chose that.
I think it's a combination of both. A few of the older boys
seem to prefer to go over my lap in some situations, but that's
usually when they're feeling insecure or really upset with
themselves, so I think it probably is a maturity thiing. The
fact that it does go faster probably doesn't slow that choice,
though.

While I'm here, I should probably add to the other spankings
I've heard about in the last couple of days.
Eli Marchant and Brandon Malone tried one of Barry's old tricks.
The two of them lied about being at each other's house, so they
could go to another friend's house and watch/play some mature
audience video game which neither of them are allowed to play.
The really stupid thing is that they probably could have gotten
away with it, if they hadn't lied about it. As it was, Kim
called Dean's house to talk to Brandon and the jig was up.
Despite the fact that we've had a cool week or two, Curtis is
still working long hours (if you don't recall, his business does
air conditioning repair), so Dean ended up dealing with both
boys - Brandon got a good, hard paddling while Eli watched and
awaiting his turn.
The other incident, was Glen and Kline. This happened last
Sunday. The two of the wanted to go play with some friends.
Instead of finishing their chores, they decided to lie about it.
If they'd just forgotten the chores, it would have been a hand
spanking. Instead, the two of them got deluxe sessions with the
Tailblazer (from Marcus), and then had to clean their bedroom
before they got dressed. Or maybe they just chose not to dress
until their bottoms cooled off.

Curious. Were the boys told about the difference between
punishment? Forgetting chores a hand spanking, lying deluxe
session with Tailblazer? I am thinking if they were told, then
next time they will lie and say they forgot about the chores,
hoping to get the hand spanking! ;D

Indeed. They were probably feeling very clever, but the more
complicated you make your plot, the more likely the grownups
will find out.

When you're asked about the chores before you go, and you say
you did them, it's hard to go back later and say you forgot. I
don't know how Marcia might deal with it, but this was not a
case where there was much ambiguity in what they said and did.
I will admit I don't know if they were asked about each specific
chores, but Marcus made it sound like he asked if they'd checked
the chore chart.

While we've had several incidents go to BOTD this month, last
night was a pretty straight forward one.
Kaden and his friend, Kix, were here last night. C&C had a few
of their friends (the King boys - Cody and Keith, whom I believe
are 8 and 9 now). I had told Kade and Kix that they could have
the theater last night to hook up some Playstation game, but I
was letting the littles watch a movie first.
Kix and Kaden were in the game room, being noisy, and kind of
disrepectful to the little guys. I finally asked if they wanted
to lose their gaming for the night. They didn't, so I told them
to go to Kade's bedroom until 9pm, when they could have the
theater.
That should have been the end of it, but somehow they decided
that I'd actually meant 'or start being quiet', so they went
back to the game room to shoot some pool, which is where I found
them.
Back in Kaden and Leif's bedroom, I suggested that Kix go home
for the night.
"I'm really sorry, Mr. Wells. I'd rather just get the swats."
"Is that your choice, too, Kaden?"
"Yes, sir."
"What do you think you deserve for disobeying?"
They actually suggested six bare, which I felt was way overkill,
so we went with three. A little firmer than normal, but they
had directly disobeyed me after I'd given them a second chance,
so it seemed fair.
They both got ready without complaint. I had them bend over
with their elbows on the side of Kaden's bed, and I swatted back
and forth. Kix jumped up after the second, but I only had to
tell him once to get back down. Both of them were yelping, and
their eyes were a bit damp, but neither of them actually broke
down and cried. By that point, the movie was over, so we got
them set up in the theater as soon as they were cleaned up and
dressed.

You have likely shared this somewhere but I am going to ask
here. How old is Kix?

I don't think so. The boys aren't tired of school yet, so
trouble is usually done. And honestly, the batch I have now is
just not as rambunctious and trouble prone as Noah, Barry, the
twins, Bryce, and company were.

Kix and Kaden are in the same grade. He doesn't drive yet, so
I'd guess he's still 15.
