Fido is doing great - his servants are home 24/7 and he has a
captive audience. What more could the biggest attention-seeking
       bunny since Bugs want?
Seriously, there's not a lot I can say. We have an important
household rule that everyone gets to have their own limits about
what they're comfortable with, and that includes pets. However,
in Fido's case it's more like 'Fido is in charge, and he will
remind you if you forget.' Van has had to apply strict rules
about giving all the animals snacks, and Fido and the ferrets
are the worst about trying to cage them (except the dogs, who
will take a Milk Bone from you, then try to tell you it must
have been some other Old English Sheep Dog who got it, because
they haven't had one... Not that I have anyone in particular in
       mind).
But I digress. What was I saying? Oh, right.
Fido really likes being played with. You have to show him a
certain amount of respect and remember that he'll let you know
very firmly when he gets tired, but he's willing to do agility
like games, and he usually loves playing dress up. Connor and
Curtis took a costume top hat that had been slightly damaged,
and are working to teach Fido a 'magic act'. It's not a great
act so far, but it's fun watching them and it's certainly
keeping them distracted. Actually, one of the funniest parts is
watching C&C negotiate with Van over what and how many 'treats'
Fido can have while they're training him. At least they're big
enough know that Fido doesn't just beat them up and take the
       treats away.
It's good that this happened when Spring had already started.
While there's been some rainy days, the weather has been mostly
nice for a while now - warm, but not too hot - so Van makes sure
all the animals are getting plenty of exercise. This might suck
for the humans, but I think they animals are better off than
they have been since last summer.

I do still get the occasional question about Fido, so I thought
I'd check in here, while I've been checking in lately.
       Fido is doing okay.
The simple fact is, he's getting pretty old for a rabbit,
especially a giant. Now, indoor rabbits have much longer
lifespans on average than outdoor rabbits, and Van always made
       sure he got top notch nutritional standards and medical care;
but he's still been around for quite some time, and big rabbits,
like big dogs, tend to live shorter lifespans.
Curtis is Fido's main pet these days, though he still accepts
adulation from everyone. He's tired and not as agile as he once
was, but he still enjoys playing around and being the center of
attention. Despite Curtis being his main human, he's still
ecstatic when Zeke or, especially Van comes home.
Fido still has his blankie and stuffed tiger, though both of
them have had to be patched and doctored numerous times now. He
still has the same brand of rope carrot (they get boring after
one chews them too long), but he has excepted the occasional
replacement hat (they lose strength when you're having to cut
ear holes). He still loves his fancy vest, though he's started
       preferring sweaters in cold weather.
I think that's about it. Van has talked about taking him,[s] now
that he's finished college and looking for his own place[/s],
but we've agreed that it would be better for Fido to stay in his
only home with his current pet, and that moving might be too
stressful on him in his old age.
CORRECTION: I'm not sure what happened there. I think I was
refering to him planning to live off campus while he finished
       college.

I'm glad Fido is doing okay, although he's older. He is a
rabbits with a lot of personality. When it's time for him to
die, I think he has had a good rabbit life.

Van says we got Fido in late 2014, and the average lifespan for
one of the giant rabbit breeds is 8 to 10 years. Fido has
trouble getting around these days, but he still seems to have a
good quality of life. We're keeping an eye on him, but he's had
a good run, and he doesn't seem through with it yet.
