Fido doesn't really swim (and I've made it clear that trying to
make him is a major spanking offense), but he does sometimes go
and sit on the first step in the pool, stretching out so he's
       pretty much covered.

Hmm. I wonder why you felt the need to do that? Has anyone
tried? Knowing your boys, my guess is that if it happened, it
would be misjudgment when trying to play with Fido, rather than
       deliberate cruelty.

If I honestly believed it was an accident, that wouldn't count.
However, remember that Barry put Rocky down the slide - kids
sometimes think something's a good idea, when it really isn't.
I have read that rabbits can swim, but it's pretty stressful for
them, so I felt it was best to head it off at the pass.

Van took Fido on his speed dating Saturday afternoon. They came
home with a pretty, fawn colored Conti.
Contis - or Continental Giants - are a large breed, and this
young lady, while she is still growing, is already nearly 15
pounds. Her breed can actually be expected to be larger than
most checkered giants, so she might be a good match for Fido,
       despite his own incredible size.
Considering her coloring and the fact that female rabbits are
called does, we considered naming her Faline. Honestly though,
Bambi just doesn't sound like a boy's name (thanks all you
strippers out there), so that's what we went with.
Van had to pay an adoption fee to cover her vet expenses (he
actually paid more than twice the fee as a donation).
Apparently she's the child of a rescued rabbit, so she was
raised by volunteers at the shelter, and she's very used to
humans. She's very friendly and more cuddly than Fido is (Fido
is very like a cat - extremely cuddly when he's in the mood),
and she seems to be pretty smart. She came to us knowing how to
shake hands and sit up on command.
We have a dog crate that's large enough for one of the labs to
travel in if necessary, and she's spending her nights in that
right now, but during the day, she's mostly in Fido's hutch.
He's getting used to sharing it, and she's meeting everyone and
exploring the area. We're keeping her in the crate at night
more for her comfort than anything.
Van tells me that two of the friends Fido met were very friendly
with him, but Bambi and Fido started grooming each other within
a few minutes, and Fido let her have some hay from 'his' stash,
so Van felt like they were already a good match.
That's about it so far. Bambi is very nervous of the big dogs
and Ozzy and Sheba (the big cats), but she's okay with most of
the rest of the animals, though we're supervising her being with
any of the dogs and cats so far. Fido is pretty protective of
her, from what I can see, but he doesn't herd her like he does
the smaller rabbits and younger kids.

       Are Fido and Bambl intact?
Should we expect any junior Fidos?

Fido and Bambi have both been repair... I mean fixed, so there
won't be any little giants coming our way.

How are Fido a Bambi doing? Are they sleeping together?

Bambi isn't as... outgoing as Fido is, but she's learned to use
her box, so she has pretty much free reign. She tends to shadow
Fido a lot, and she does get along with the cats for the most
part. The two of them do sleep on Van's bed a lot, but I think
she also spends some time sleeping in her hutch - sometimes Fido
joins her, but he sometimes naps in the living room, which she
doesn't seem comfortable with. She's not the character Fido is,
but she is a good bunny, and she's learning some basic commands
       already.
