Aww Fido! He is cute and fierce!
One less week for Van to get back! Zeke must be marking the days
       on the calendar!

Zeke is missing Van, since the two of them are pretty close, but
he's also enjoying his position. Except Fido, all the other
animals are pretty accepting of him, and the younger boys have
all quickly grown used to Zeke making sure they do their share
       of animal care.
As for Fido - Fido's demanding, but he doesn't seem unhappy, and
I think he's ready to accept Zeke, now that he's made sure Zeke
       knows who's in charge.

Van arrived home last night, and everyone kept reminding me that
I HAD to let you know what happened with Fido.
Actually, things went pretty close to normal.
I honestly don't know how much of a time sense animals have.
Obviously, Fido knew Van has been gone, but I don't know if he
understood that it was much longer this time than it has been in
       the past.
His normal binky (happy dance) was delayed this time. I did
some reading on rabbit bonding and behavior last night, and I
wonder if he'd decided Van was dead. Whatever the reason, he
seemed shocked to see Van, then he came up and sniffed and
nuzzled him and wanted head bonks, but then he went back to
Zeke. He did that a couple of times, then he seemed to get
excited. After some binky and petting, he went back to Zeke for
a while and totally ignored Van for 15 or maybe 20 minutes, but
then he'd go back to Van, then back to Zeke. After a couple of
trips, he let Van give him some food and then Van picked him up
and they sat together for a while.
Van really wanted Jared to spend the night last night (after
spending six weeks in a cabin with multiple boys, I'm pretty
sure he was desperate for some serious one on one time), but
Jared's mom nixed that ("I'm sure they want family time tonight,
Jay"). While I understand their motivation, Zeke and Van shared
Van's bed last night, so Fido was able to sleep with both of his
boys, which is where they all are right now.

       Thanks for the Fido update!
       "head bonks"?
Animals clearly retain memories and have some sense of time, it
took a few secs for this dog to recognize its long absent owner:

I mentioned this in chat yesterday, so thought I should share it
       here as well.
Bunnies are used to living in big social groups, which Fido
mostly has here, since we have a ton of animals and boys in the
       house.
I was reading up on bunny separation anxiety, and it turns out
that bunnies usually bond into a couple. It actually isn't
always male/female or even rabbit/rabbit. While Fido does have
a lot of friends in the house, I had kind of thought he was
bonded with Van, but it seems like that's not entirely true.
There's a boy who's helped us with rabbits, helped Van learn to
show rabbits, and from whom we still buy hay. I talked to Van
Monday night, and he called the... really he's a young man
now.., fellow. They do have different rabbits, including some
rescue rabbits, and he's done speed dating with rabbits before.
I'm going to try to go with, so we're talking about maybe doing
that sometime Saturday, and see if we can't find a new friend
       for Fido.

Fido doesn't really swim (and I've made it clear that trying to
make him is a major spanking offense), but he does sometimes go
and sit on the first step in the pool, stretching out so he's
       pretty much covered.

Just don't let him get a sunburn. Who's responsibility is it to
       keep the bunny creamed?

Bunny's have fairly thick fur, so he's responsible for getting
his own self out of the sun when he needs to.
