I'm strongly considering Zyngaru's recommendation of Time
Bandits. I don't know about Krull, but there were a lot of
sword and sorcery or weird sci-fi movies around that time, and I
probably will go with one or two of them. What we have lined up
for now is Labyrinth, Dark Crystal, Secret of Nimh, 20,000
Leagues Under the Sea and Neverending Story.
       maybe an Abbot and Costello

I like that whole list. Dark Crystal is one of my favorites.
Labyrinth I consider a classic. The first Neverending Story was
great. I didn't care for the sequels so much.
Since you brought up Abbot and Costello, let me recommend a
couple of Don Knotts movies that I enjoyed. "The Ghost and Mr.
Chicken" and "The Incredible Mr. Limpet." Either one would be
       good in my opinion.
I agree that "Krull" might be odd with the rest of your lineup.
But "Time Bandits" should fit in nicely.

How about The Flame and the Arrow. with Burt Lancaster?

These won't really work around here - not because they're not
good movies, but because they're on regular rotation. All my
kids and many of their friends have seen these more than once,
along with the Disney movies he made with Tim Conway (like The
       Apple Dumpling Gang).
I'm not familiar with that one, Daniel. After some thought
about it last night, I decided I'm definitely adding the 1993
Three Musketeers to the list. It's not as true to the novel as
the previous two adaptations, but it was a lot of fun.

Friday night was our inaugural and 'free' showing in the Summer
Movie Series. As planned, we showed Flash Gordon. We had way
over twice the normal amount of kids - nearly 80 boys showed up.
We started cooking around 8pm. We had burgers and dawgs (brats,
hot links, and all beef franks), with roast potato wedges. They
had fresh corn on the cob at the grocery store, so we ended up
grilling a bunch of that as well.
About 8:30, when the little guys were through eating, we put
them in the theater and got things started for them. It was
probably about another 45 minutes before we had the older kids
ready to go, though we were showing cartoons and a cliff-hanger
episode of Batman (1966) before that. It was after 11pm when we
finished, and some of the boys had been going since 6am, but
that's a movie that does keep you excited once it gets going.
The kids had a great time. Even the adults who'd hung around to
help supervise (Robert Sherman, Dennis McLeod, and Mr. Sutton)
       had enjoyed themselves.

Last night we had our first invitational evening and showed
Buckaroo Banzai. The kids mostly loved it (it's a goofy, fast
       moving movie).
We have 8 more weekends before school starts, then we'll do the
invitational on Labor Day weekend, where everyone who did a
project every week (or maybe at least 6, depends on how many
that turns out to be) will be invited.
So far, it looks like the rest of the list is going to be
Phantom (with Billy Zane), Young Sherlock Holmes (suggested by
Leti), Rocketeer, Labyrinth, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea (with
James Mason), Neverending Story, Cat From Outer Space, Jason and
the Argonauts, and Time Bandits (suggested by Zyngaru). Not sure
when we'll show what, or what we'll save for Labor Day weekend.

I totally forgot I meant to show the 1993 Three Musketeers and
Legend this summer.... Not sure what I'm going to do now.

Yes! Yes! Yes! You have to find a place for Legend.
I love the character of Honeythorn Gump.

I look at that picture and think, 'Why in the name of your
personal deity would anyone wear shoes like that for anything
       but a ballroom?'
I will probably just throw a ballot out to the boys who are
working on projects, ask them to pick five, and go with the top
choices. I'll add a couple of others on there, like Muppet
Treasure Island. That'll be easier than me trying to cut it
down, or asking Jake and Connor to do it again.
