       Bio Sheets
By: Jack Date: September 28, 2017, 5:16 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
A while back, I formatted something I called a 'bio sheet'.
  HTML http://bransomtx.com/personal%20sheet.html
I want to make some changes in it, to reflect permanent data
(birthday, but not school or grade).
I'm still considering how to handle bios, but the way I've done
the recently requested ones for Greg Garza and Mike Guice seem
to work pretty well, so I will probably use that as a guide
while doing them for the new forums.
I'd love to hear any thoughts or suggestions on this or any
       related (or even unrelated) issue.
       Thanks

       Jack,
For me Name and Age are the two most important facts. I am new,
so I don't know your kids like those that have been here for
years. You have so many kids that I for one, have a difficult
time, keeping them straight in my mind. With an age connected
with a name, it helps me to know both who you are posting about
and what age bracket of boy you are posting about. Otherwise I
am imagining a tween boy when you are actually posting about a
       college boy.
       Thanks,
       Z

The format works for me as well. Maybe age/DOB. I've been here
a very long time, but it's hard for me to imagine that Ethan is
nearly ready to graduate from high school, that Van is
interested in girls, or that Kenny is in double digits without a
reminder how fast they grow up.

And to that you could add a very short description of how he
became part of your family, or what his relationship with you
is. I mean, not a story, just something like "he is my nephew,
and he came to live with me when he was 8, because such and such
       happened".

I will also appreciate that sort of information, just so I can
see/keep straight how it is this child "was acquired" into the
       family.

The bio sheets probably won't be just for my family, but for a
lot of the kids that make regular appearances here. However,
I'm sure there is similar information that could be easily
useful: how we met or who their friends are. For people who
aren't part of my immediate family, I will probably also have a
section that includes their immediate family.
Eventually, I will probably also have a link to their bio and
their 'family bio' if they have one.
I'm not sure what else - maybe a generic list to at least
mention whether they're homeschooled, BISD, BCA, or other, which
seems like fairly important information than can change, but not
       often.

It has been suggested that I include families in the bio
section, which I did here with Marcus and Marcia. Of course,
the two of them married 'on camera' so to speak. Marcus last
name is not actually Wells, so it should be Kincaid/Conroy. I
was trying to think of a way to make the family threads stand
out. Of course, I'm not sure I ever used Terry's last name, so
that one would probably look like
       Wells - Christopher and Terry
       Wells - Steve and Belle
I wouldn't have my own, since that's really the entire forum.
I don't mention the parents as much, and sometimes don't even
       bother naming them.
       Lane Family
       Lane - William and Jill
Lane - Will and Jill, Seth, Joel, Neal, and Daniel
Lane - Will and Jill, and Seth, Joel, Neal, and Daniel
or a variation on one of those, or do we need the parents' names
as well, or should they be included conditionally (I prefer to
keep the form consistent myself, or as consistent as possible).
As always, your thoughts and opinions are appreciated and
       valued.

For me, I like having the parents names, not to invade on their
privacy, but as a way to connect the boys to which parents.
This especially becomes necessary for me to keep track of who is
who, when boys from more than one family are being talked about
       in a post.
       I like the format of:
       Lane - Will and Jill, and Seth ( ), Joel ( ), Neal ( ),
       Daniel ( ).
That lets me see at a glance, family name. Parents names and
       boys names.
The only addition I would ask for in this format is in
parenthesis the ages of the boys.
That way at a quick glance I can see the boys name, his family
       orientation and his age.
