When will Joel arrive to your house?
[/quote]
Joel is already here.
He arrived Monday night, spent Tuesday settling into the bedroom
with Parker, and hanging out with his friends. Wednesday they
spent at Six Flags, and yesterday was more of what Tuesday had
been. Today they're supposed to go to Hurricane Harbor.
I'd meant for him to have a bit more quiet week, but he's been
doing what he needs to do, catching up with his friends, and
having a good time, and he seems to be doing fine. He'll have
plenty of time to settle into how our family does things, and
it's not like he's never been here before.
He and I did sit down together Monday night, and we went over
the rules. He's a little nervous, because I'm stricter on a
couple of things than his parents were, but only a little, and
it's not like I've never spanked or paddled him before, so he's
not having to worry about the unknown.
Overall, I think he's doing fine.

Just a quick update on this, because I just heard from Seth, who
just called to say hello, chat a bit, and ask about his
brother's graduation.
I am still in contact with Seth and Joel. Both of them
graduated college more or less on schedule (I use the term 'on
schedule' very loosely for anyone who started college from 2015
to about 2021). Seth graduated in Dec '22 and went on to get a
masters, and he's now happily working at a fairly prestige,
private high school.
Joel graduated high school in 2019. He had a bad case of Covid
though, and also changed majors, so he's just going to be
graduating next month. He's already made sure Parker and I are
invited.
I always kind of liked the Lane parents, but with them back
east, and Joel an adult, we're kind of just Christmas card
friends now.
Neil had to deal with the pandemic while he was in high school,
so it didn't throw him off too horribly. He's now in his third
year of what's planned to be five.
Daniel (who had some learning disabilities) is 19 and about to
graduate high school. Covid was very rough on him, because he
already has respiratory problems, but it turns out he doesn't do
well with distance learning for various reasons. He does,
however, do well with computers, and they're planning on him
getting something like an associates in computer hardware and
repair, so he should be able to support himself easily.
Probably wouldn't have even thought of this, if Seth hadn't
called, but since I did... (Oh, and we're planning to get
together around the graduation, so I'm trying to get Bryce to
join us).
