My belief, based on knowledge of Mr. P, is that Stu would have
been either strip searched or patted down. When nothing was
found, based on what Mr. P said about Mrs. X, Stu would have
been sent back to class.
The thing is, Stu worships his (step) father, who's been his dad
for about four years now (Mom and Mark married when Stu was
repeating 8th grade, and Stu is now in 11th - maybe 3 1/2?).
Mark is very strict with Stu, and he's made a number of trips to
the school during... especially during... those first couple of
years since Stu was placed here, solely for the purpose of
blistering Stu's tail. Stu wasn't worried about getting
paddled; Stu was worried about Mark disbelieving him or even
just doubting him.
At least that's how I read it.

It's been a couple of weeks since I posted this. Stu has been
back to visit us. Despite his age, he isn't yet allowed to
drive, so he can't just show up the way some boys do, and
spending a little time with him, it quickly becomes clear that
Mark really does run a pretty tight ship. I should also say
here that, like my own Charlie, Stu seems to have thrived under
it, and he knows that and appreciates it - mostly even when it
is inconvenient (or painful, based on the joking way he's shared
a couple of stories of himself, Mark, and the belt).
I hadn't thought about this, but Stu's unusual situation seems
to have prepared him in an unusual way. While he likes Liam and
Van, he and Zeke seem to get along very well.
The first time Stu came over after school, I found out about it
when I received a text from Liam, asking if it was okay, and if
it was okay for them to give Mark my phone number. I said yes
to both, then I received a call from Mark double-checking, and
making sure that the boys would really be supervised. He didn't
come over Easter weekend that I recall, but he spent the night
last night. He didn't spend much time with Zeke (which Zeke
didn't mind, since he was invited to Kade's birthday party),
because he was in Ethan's room with Ethan, Connor Joyce, and
their Lego's Mindstorm kits. Details of last night will be
shared in a BOTD this evening.

He does. It's not usual for 17-year-olds to be so closely
supervised. Zeke's situation, of course, is very different. But
Stu also had his problems and if it works for him, more power to
them.

He does seem to be on a rather short leash for 17.

He definitely is, and he knows it - so does Mark. However, he
got up to a lot of trouble when he was 13 and 14, and it took
him a while to dig his way out of that. Mark and Stu's mom are
trying to give him more freedom... No, they're trying to let him
earn more freedom, and it seems like he not only understands
that, but he appreciates it. Like Charlie, I think they found
something that worked for him, which might not be right for
everyone, but he bloomed under it, and he seems to appreciate
the attention they give him.

I came here for another reason, then realized I'd never shared
the link to the BOTD which included Stu, so
HTML https://jackshouse.createaforum.com/botd/201849-that-ain't-a-robot!/
Let's go ahead and get a couple of things out of the way.
First - Stu's going to be a big brother. Mark and his mom had
waited a while, but they decided they wanted a kid together, and
she's now expecting on 3 Dec.
Second - Stu's math teacher graded his test yesterday so he'd
know. He needed to make at least an 87 to keep an A, and he
made a 91. The rest of his classes, as long as he takes the
test, it won't effect his grade. That means he gets to take
'behind the wheel' this summer and get his driver's license.
Stu has been a pretty regular visitor with us, but I haven't
mentioned him since that BOTD, because he's just no problem.
More than that, he's polite, thoughtful, and helpful.
A lot of Stu's problem (and I've gotten this from him as well as
Mark and his mom) is that he's ADHD. At one point, they were
considering he might have ODD (Oppositional Defiant Disorder).
The thing is, many kids grow out of ODD, so they're not sure if
he did have it and grew out of it relatively quickly, or if it
was just ADHD and some other things accenting it. Either way,
he was treated for ADHD (and still takes a mild dose of
Wellbutrin for it), and between that and Mark's strict
expectations and strong support, he seems to have emerged from
whatever the problem is and is doing great.
Because of the expected baby, Mark has just started working
night shifts, and probably will be there until just passed
Halloween. Because Mom works a regular schedule (I mean 9 to
5), which she expects to stay on until about Thanksgiving),
because he has several friends here, because we will have an
actual football coach here working with the boys (yes, Stu does
play football), and because I've made it very clear he's
welcome, Stu will be spending a lot of time here this summer.
While I know CP is still on the table from him, as far as I
know, he hasn't experienced any since he and I had our first big
meeting. While I'd love to see how he takes a set from the
medium Lexan, I honestly hope he keeps his streak going.

Stu is hanging out here most days. He's been having a great
time. And while he's behaved, I've still seen him changing for
the pool a number of times. Yes, I realize I saw him naked the
first time I met him, but he's still a good looking young man.
I did make one mistake earlier - Stu just finished 10th grade,
not 11th. He'll be 18 this fall, but he had to repeat a grade.
Not sure how I got off.
As I said earlier, he needed to make his grade goals to get to
take driver's ed this summer (which keeps him equal with his
peers in the same grade). The problem is, with his mom working
during the day, and his dad having to work overnight, he doesn't
have a way to get there. And so, in comes Zeke to save the day.
And yes, while Stu gets along with all my older boys, he and
Zeke are still good friends.

Did Stu got his grades and is taking drivers ed, this summer?
