       Stu Laughlin (17)
By: Jack Date: March 24, 2018, 4:38 am
       ---------------------------------------------------------
I'm not sure I'll have time to do this whole thing this morning,
but I wanted to get started (I promised Leti). I would honestly
rather do this as a story, but I seem to have an aversion to
those just now, and I want this to get finished.
After my third period class, I say good bye to my students, pack
up my stuff, and head for the office. I usually have to talk to
one or two of the kids who have questions, so passing period is
over once I head that way.
Yesterday, I came across a tall boy - when I got closer I could
see he was about the same height as me, so about six foot even -
being chewed out by a female teacher who couldn't have been more
than about 5'4". It would have been funny, if the boy hadn't
       been so obviously distressed.
"... but I didn't!" the boy was protested as I grew close enough
       to hear.
"I saw you," was her response.
Since there was an obvious disagreement at the least, I stopped.
Probably none of my business, but I'm intrusive like that.
The long and short of it was that the teacher swore she'd seen
him with drug paraphernalia, while he was denying it. She
wanted to take him to the office, and he seemed almost in tears
       over the idea.
Let me pause to say that I already knew Stu, but not well. He's
a friend of Perry's. Stu should actually be graduating this
year (Perry graduated a year early and is still 17 himself),
except he had to repeat 8th grade. I had met Stu a couple of
times, from Perry's parties, and from him bringing Stu over to
use the pool a couple of times. Perry and Stu played pee wee
football together as long ago as when they were 8 or 10, and
they've been friends since then, though I also know that Stu got
in a lot of trouble in middle school, with skipping school,
petty theft and shoplifting, vandalism, and tobacco offenses.
It all came to a head when he was caught in possession of a
kid's stolen bike, then got in a fight at school. He started at
       BCA soon after that.
I suggested that since Mrs. X needed to get to her class, and
someone was going to have to keep an eye on Stu to make sure he
didn't ditch any incriminating evidence, that it might be
easiest for me to take him to the gym and strip search him.
They both agreed with that, so she went back to class, and Stu
and I went to the locker room.
Stu is a decent looking kid with blue eyes and medium brown hair
that he wears very short (I'd guess shaved with a #3 on the
sides, and not much longer on top). He's built lean, like many
high school football players, but he hasn't really filled out
through the chest and shoulders yet, so he could pass for a
couple of years younger, though his face isn't especially
       boyish.
We'll pretend this is an old RKO serial, and draw to a temporary
conclusion with our hero leading the young man to the locker
       rooms.

Mmm. I wonder what kind of "drug paraphernalia" the teacher
thought she saw. And when did she see it, right then? Does Stu
have any alternative explanation for what the teacher may have
       seen?
I guess we'll know more after Jack's next instalment. ;)

I'm going to speculate (as I did silently during chat) that the
search did not turn up anything incriminating. What the teacher
did see, if anything, will be of interest for the next
installment. As I said, this is just speculation on my part.

I am thinking since Stu agreed to the strip search, that he
doesn't have any paraphernalia on him.
So I am thinking either he has something that looks like
paraphernalia or he has something that he doesn't know is
       considered paraphernalia.
Of course he could just be trying to extend the inevitable while
trying to find a way to ditch the item.
There is the possibility that Mrs. X doesn't know what drug
paraphernalia looks like or she thinks other normal things can
be used as drug paraphernalia, which of course some things can,
but do they fit the school code of drug paraphernalia?
There are so many possibilities here. Heck Stu could have had a
stupid moment and actually tried to show off something. On a
dare or something. Boys do stupid things sometimes.
What it all comes down to is we have to wait for Jack to reveal
       the mystery. Nice cliff hanger.
Lucky Jack, he gets to eyeball another naked boy. ::) ::) ::)
Are strip searches going to become a trend? If so, I volunteer
       to perform them. ;D ;D ;D

Getting to the locker room was uneventful. I asked Stu if he
wanted a coach to stay with us, but he didn't. It's funny how
the change from getting ready (or cleaning up from) sports to
being searched can make a normally confident boy suddenly shy.
Stu was wearing navy slacks with a light blue button down shirt.
He undid his pants, untucked the shirt, unbuttoned and removed
it, handing it to me. I just gave it a quick shake and laid it
on the bench. His pants came off next. He was wearing Fruit of
the Loom knit boxers (with a button on the fly). They look
light blue, but they're actually very tight, horizontal, blue
and white stripes (pinstripes, I guess). His white undershirt
was tucked into them. He was wearing black 'no see' socks. I
held his pants while he finished stripping.
'Hands on your head and turn around," I instructed him.
       He did.
He's mediumly hairy and decently hung - about average, I'd guess
       - and circumcised. His legs have a fair amount of hair, but his
upper body is still limited to under the arms and just barely
climbing to his navel. His chest is still bare. His cheeks are
also smooth, though you can already see hair in the crack.
Overall, a nice looking young man.
I know how to do a full on strip search, but if he'd had
anything in his hands when Mrs. X saw him, I doubt he'd had time
to hide it behind his sack, much less keister it, so I told him
to put his underwear back on.
I took every out of his pockets - phone, wallet, a note, some
change, a couple of keys, and a package of Listerine strips. I
       held those up.
"I have second lunch, and I'm always starving before then. I
have trouble paying attention in fourth period, so I have a
granola bar of something after third, but I hate the way my
       mouth tastes, so...." He shrugged.
There was absolutely nothing there that looked vaguely like drug
       paraphernalia.
Stu wanted to go on to class, but I took him back to Mrs. X's
class instead. I knocked, she answered, and I suggested she
       come into the hall.
       "What did he have?"
"Nothing," I informed her. "What did you think he had?"
It turns out that she'd seen him with something in his mouth,
showing it to his friends. When he saw her looking, he shoved
it in his pocket. I had to count to ten to keep from biting her
head off. Then I asked Stu to show her what he'd put in his
       mouth.
I think she wanted to argue, but since we'd just proven that
what she claimed to see didn't exist, there wasn't a lot she
       could say.
"Now, Stu needs to get to class, so I think you should go ahead
       and apologize."
       "What?"
       "Apologize."
       "For what?"
"For accusing him of a criminal action with no proof. I'm not
going to say you made anything up, but it's obvious you decided
to draw the worst possible conclusion from whatever you did
       see."
She didn't care for what I was saying, especially not in front
of a student. She also didn't think she should be held
accountable for 'just doing her job.' When it became obvious I
wasn't going to back down, she muttered a half-assed apology and
       went back to her class.
I walked Stu to his next class and explained why we were late.
His teacher thanked me, and I turned to leave.
       "Mr. Wells?"
       I turned back to Stu.
"Thanks. I mean, for sticking up for me, and... you know, just
       thanks."
"You're welcome, Stu, and thank you."
       "For what?"
"For not making me look bad. I'll stand up for anyone who needs
it, but I hate when someone wants to be stood up for, then ends
up not deserving it. You keep doing the right thing."
He blushed, tried to say something, then just waved and went
       into his class.
       [hr]
I talked to Mr. P before I left. He'd already heard about Mrs.
X (more than once). While she hasn't done anything to actually
be fired for, they've already decided not to invite her back for
next year, because this isn't the first time she's pulled BS
       like this.
And this seems like a good place to end the story (but it's not
       - one more installment to come).

Happy that Stu is innocent of the crime for which he was
       accused.
It was a very good thing, Jack was walking down the hall when
Mrs. X was accusing Stu, or who knows what may have happened.
I am sorry for Mrs. X. She should have rejoiced in finding out
that Stu was innocent and happily apologized with multiple "I'm
so sorry" thrown into her apology, but instead she seems to have
shown just the opposite emotion, as if she wanted him found
       guilty and punished.
I just hope in the next installment, you don't tell us, that Stu
handed off something to a classmate on his way out into the
       hall.

This is the result I was expecting, but it turned out even
better than I thought it might. I'm glad to read you confronted
Mrs. X and that you relayed your findings to Mr. P. Being
scolded in front of a student and made to apologize is the least
consequence she should expect, and I would hope that Mr. P has
some choice words for her as well. She seems to have a typical
       "jailer" mentality.
