The Little Forum at Bransom, TX
By: Jack Date: September 24, 2017, 5:13 pm
---------------------------------------------------------
I have just gotten the new forum up and running.
At this point, I'm still setting everything up, which seems to
take a bit longer than it did here (hosting your own site comes
with a less intuitive interface, I guess).
I'm still trying to sort through everything right now, so it's
not usable at all yet, but at least it's installed and running
now.
Over the next day or two, as I have time to complete work on it,
I will probably have a few questions to ask. In the meantime,
just thought you'd know we seem to be making progress.

I had hit a hurtle, but managed to read my way through it. I am
getting the frame work down now, but I want to spend some time
making sure things are set up right before we switch, so it'll
probably still be a few days.

I'm not going to give an exact date because, as well all know -
feces occurs.
What I will say is that we could actually move there now. At
this point, I'm working with the moderators to polish it off.
One of the biggest problems with the first forum is that it grew
kind of willy nilly, and was even having a few problems still at
the end. Also, phpBB is not the same as forumotion. If it
were, I could be finished now. phpBB requires more work, and is
less organized. For instance, it's much more difficult to
change the appearance and customize things. Also, not all the
bells and whistles are easy to find.
I keep saying this, and I'm not holding my breath this time, but
I think things might be calming down a bit, which means I might
have a bit more time to work on it.
Anyway, while I'm not quite ready to open it yet, we are getting
close.
