That's good news. Let's hope Dillon learns from his mistakes and
everything goes better for the family now.

Dillon received a call from the Court Clerk yesterday afternoon.
At my suggestion, Dillon included some addendums to the actual
form - one explaining how he's going to treat their property for
now, and a second one explaining that he's asking for full
custody of the boys because he wants to move down here, then
making clear why he wants to move down here.
The court clerk explained to Dillon that they're going to fast
track things, since he does have a full-time, permanent job
awaiting him. Technically, he's allowed to move, since Gina is
in jail, but that would cause all types of problems if she's
released next month, so they want to solve everything ASAP. The
problem is that Gina does still have certain rights.
After filing the paperwork, the Clerk presented it to the judge,
who gave tentative approval to the agreement, contingent on
Gina's reaction. Since she's in jail right now, they've
forwarded a copy of everything to her. She will have the
ability to either sign the agreement, or to protest it, which
means there will have to be a hearing. She will be presented
with the paperwork by tomorrow, so they penciled in time for a
hearing next Tuesday, when the judge has a couple of hours open
in the morning.
This is really just a hearing if Gina disagrees, so they can
find out where the areas of conflict are, and if she has grounds
to go further. The thing is, Gina can't really protest Dillon
being given custody while she's in jail, and because Dillon
wants to move and get the kids settled in before school starts,
it doesn't make much sense to give Gina grounds to challenge the
custody decision before next summer at the earliest. Property
is divided for a separation, but they don't have that much
property right now, and Dillon is leaving half the cars, half
the money, and all of their trailer home with her, which is
actually more than half the property, so it would be hard for
her to challenge on that ground.
While I'm hardly a lawyer, much less one on Oklahoma marriage
laws, it sounds like this should be settled pretty soon.
Dillon is planning to go visit Gina tonight, so he can let her
know what's going on - hopefully before they serve her with the
papers.

Some of my boys have to stay here to take care of the younger
kids they agreed to supervise, so Mickey and the twins are going
to drive up there tomorrow to help load Barrett's stuff, and
maybe a few other things, then they'll come down and get him
moved into their new house, which I had cleaned and the lawn
serviced this week. Barrett will be able to start work right
away, and Ed and Drake will be staying here, with my older boys
technically in charge of them. I'm sure Barrett will be staying
here as well, until they get the house more settled.

Ed and Drake are staying with us right now. Thursday was moving
day, but Barrett came by with the kids that evening. For now,
they're staying with us. Once Dillon is able to cash in a CD,
they'll finish getting the house set up. We're not sure when
Dillon will move down here, because he's waiting to hear from
the court.
Dillon did go to see Gina, and she was very unhappy about the
entire idea. Of course, like many people, she doesn't want to
admit a problem or that she needs some type of therapy. Dillon
says he tried very hard to take his share of the blame, without
taking all of it. Also of course, she through a fit when he
reached the point about 'taking her babies.' The only thing is,
it looks like there's now no chance she'll be out of jail before
September, unless he cashes in enough investment to pay her bail
-- which seems to me that it would be a waist of money at this
point. While she'll finish her misdemeanor sentence before
that, she has to go back to court on the felony charge to see if
they'll still accept the plea deal. If they don't, there's no
telling what will happen next. Even if they do, the boys will
still have started school by that point, so it's a horrible time
for a custody question.
Dillon is prepared to go to court next week, and he already has
a couple of temp jobs lined up for the first of the week, so
everything's going well on that front.
Back in Bransom, Barrett has already gone to work for me. Since
he and I have been spending more time together this year, he
seems like a very intelligent, responsible young man. I really
want an older person to work with Huck at the Bounce House, but
I might consider Barrett for an assistant manager position
there. In the meantime, he's helping finish everything at the
Imaginarium, since we're opening there in just a week.
Drake was no problem yesterday. I tried to get them into Y
camp, but they were full up. Even with the littles gone, we
still have a number of 10-year olds hanging around here. To be
sure, I invited Ennis Strouse to hang out here, and Sam Sutton
was willing to play with some slightly younger boys, and the
Henderson boys are here every day. It was a bit harder to make
sure Ed had someone to hang out with, so I made a few phone
calls, and the King and McLeod families both spent the day with
us yesterday, and Ed was pretty happy.
While there are a couple of questions to work out, it looks like
Drake and Ed might be spending next week with Connor, Curtis,
and the grands. A lot of it depends on how comfortable Chris
and Marcus are with handling discipline for them. I might have
to give up a bit of my quiet time and accompany them a day or
two to help out.
Oh, and Barrett informed me last night that the boys had tried
to revert to their old before with Dillon back in the trailer.
Barrett took Dillon aside and put his foot down, and Dillon
ended up enforcing the rules Barrett has been enforcing (which
were always in effect, but honored mostly in the breach) with
his hand on their bare bottoms. Dillon was unhappy, and the
little guys were unhappy, but Barrett thinks them living
together might work out.

I'm glad Ed and Drake are having a good time, because the
problems with their parents must have been traumatizing for
them, and having fun things to do and friends to play with must
help a lot. Looks like their "unspanked childhood" times are
over, though.

Considering the circumstances, I think things worked out pretty
well. Barrett taking charge allowed them to stay at home and the
same school. Their trips down here, while mostly to give Barr a
break, served to allow them to meet a lot of new kids. They
won't be going to school with any of their friends, but at least
they'll know a lot of kids and have a good summer beforehand.

Dillon had his court date today.
Basically Gina's argument was they 'can't take (her) babies'.
The judge didn't buy it.
The only real question was about Dillon re-locating, and Dillon
had already testified that he was relocating because he already
had a job and a support network, and he felt he would do better
away from an environment where he was used to drinking.
He also provided statements from a couple of their previous
councilors that Gina has not put much work into her therapy,
which is Dillon's main reason for requesting the separation.
At this point, Dillon has sole custody of the children, though
he submitted a visitation agreement. If/when Gina is released,
it will automatically become joint custody, with Dillon bringing
the kids up to visit her, as long as it doesn't interrupt their
sports participation.
It sounds like that was the only concession the judge was
willing to make for Gina, since there's still a chance she could
be doing five years in prison.
That's about it. We had thought about going up tomorrow to help
Dillon move, but he has enough money to buy some new furniture
for their house, so he can leave most of the stuff for Gina for
now. I do have some extra furniture from various places I can
let him have to help out. Since he's been alone all week, he
already has the packing finished, so he just has to load up
tomorrow and head down.
Gina's not happy with the entire situation, and it sounds like
she still doesn't want to admit any of this is her fault, but
hopefully she'll be able to get her head straight before
anything else happens.

Let me repeat this here - Gina is supposed to be released later
this month on the misdemeanor charge. However, they still have
to go back to court to see if she can still get the plea bargain
they offered, and her next court date isn't until September, so
she's probably going to remain in jail until that point.
Dillon left the kitchen, dining room, bedroom furniture for the
master bedroom and Ed and Drake, taking only a few pieces I
didn't have extra, along with 'his' chair and end table. They
have already moved most of the furniture I had extra and moved
it in. They slept in their new house last night, and they're
expecting the last couple of pieces to be delivered today.
Dillon was off yesterday and today, but he's supposed to start
work with Andrew on Thursday.
We talked last night, and he tells me Drake and Ed have already
met a couple of boys about their age who live on the same block.
