       Comments and Questions

I'm probably going to upload each chapter to it's own thread,
but lock those threads, so they'll stay in order, so I'm
creating this thread for active participation. I would welcome
any feedback on whether having it all in order in one thread, or
being able to read each chapter separately works better.
       Thanks

I just finished reading every chapter in two sessions. If I
hadn't already been exhausted, I'd have read it straight
through. I am pretty sure I was one of the original people
       reading it a few years ago. I guess I'm getting old--I didn't
used to actually cry reading stories. but I did here, several
times, as well as laughing out loud. I'll write more privately
so as not to give away spoilers.

I note Joep refers to Mrs. Vaughn as Ruth. Is that significant?
Answer privately if you need to. Or, do I just need to read
       further?

       David
First, Joep is his first name, but he goes by Sieger.
Second, this is quoted from Medium, but they have a paywall, so
I'm not going to provide a link.
Students refer to their teachers by their first names, putting
aside any formalities with language or addresses, and students
typically feel free to speak their minds or can refuse to
participate in class if they don't want to.
I spent a lot of time reading about and researching Norway
before starting this story, and JC Wardh gave a lot of feedback,
so much of this is just trying to set the stage for how
different and alien things seem to Sieger.

I find the use of just first names of adults by children creepy,
only because that is not the way I have lived for 7 decades. I
do agree with the concept that first name usage creates a closer
bond. That is why at the Children's Home I worked at many
decades ago, we used Aunt and Uncle with the first name. To
create a bonding and yet keep it respectful.
One of the reasons I like Family Business is that you use that
same concept. I was able to flow right into the story because
it is something I was used to.
As for teachers first names, I don't think I ever knew any of my
       teacher's first names.
So, I can see that as something odd for Sieger. It would really
be odd if he used a teacher's first name in class. The other
students would be stunned for sure. Depending on the teacher
       how they would react.
No, I haven't read the first chapter yet. Like I said in chat,
I started with chapter 15. Hahahhaa.
