I know I talked about Mikell and Nita getting divorced, but I
don't remember how much I followed up after that, so...
After the divorce, Juanita, who had custody of Moira, moved back
to California with her parents and is still there.
Mikell has custody of Duncan, uses our home as his permanent
address, and I am Duncan's guardian when Dad is stationed
elsewhere, allowing Duncan a stable home life, so he can
complete school in the same system, with his uncles, cousins,
and friends.
Mikell has finally gained the rank of Lt. Colonel, after Nita...
She pushed him to decide against fighter training when he had
the chance, and he feels that slowed his progress. He's finally
getting where he wanted to be, and he's trying to finish
punching his ticket and hoping to reach colonel before he
retires in 2027 (September, so about 2 1/2 years). Mikell is
hoping he'll be able to get enough terminal leave to be here for
Duncan's high school graduation.
I do talk to Moira on a regular basis, and she's going to join
us for spring break next month.
Considering that he's living here, Duncan will get his own entry
when I get around to the younger kids. For now, we'll just say
that he was the one who pushed for Grandpa to start acting
involved, and he's already had a time or two to regret it.

I'm sure he doesn't regret having his grandfather involved, at
least not after the sting is gone.

Thanks for the update on Mikell. Happy he made Light Colonel.
Full bird colonel comes from congress, just like general. It
goes before a board of some kind and a lot of who gets promoted
and when is politics. I hope he makes the cut. Of course, if
he really wants to make Colonel he could stay in until he does
get the silver bird.

He was seriously considering that before the divorce. Now he's
considered retiring before 20, so he can be there before Duncan
graduates.
Honestly, considering how aloof and independent Mikell's always
tried to be, the fact that he's trusting me with his son might
be the highest praise he's ever given me.
