Jimmy Carter

Sorry to hear. Seemed a decent guy but events went against him.
As to his efforts for peace in the Middle East. well let's just
say Tony Blair is a pygmy by comparison. Getting to 100 is a
great achievement. Do US Presidents send letters to citizens who
get that far the way our monarch does? As I say the USA lost
decent man
RIP Jimmy Carter

Carter never really stood a chance at a second term. I think a
lot of the reason he and Ford both lost was the results of the
73 Oil Embargo. Inflation was one of Carter's biggest problems,
and no one wanted to be told 'quit using your air conditioner so
much' or 'wear a sweater when it's cold'. They wanted to be
promised magic solutions, and it didn't matter that there were
no real world basis in those promises (sound familiar?).
In the end, it doesn't matter. Whether someone else might have
been able to do a better job, Carter was a good man who worked
hard for other people. I remember a report about 5 years ago
when the man went to the hospital after an injury, and was back
working with Habitat for Humanity the next day.

Jimmy Carter!
I was in the Military during President Carter. A lot of things
went wrong during his Presidency. As I president I didn't care
for him.
As a human being, I praise him. He lived his faith. He didn't
just talk it; matter of fact he didn't talk it a lot. But he
lived his convictions. He did more for America after his
Presidency than he did while being President. He put Habitat
for Humanity on the map. Not much was known about it before
President Carter joined it. The man built houses. He didn't
just advertise for it, but he hammered nails doing the work.
Him and his wife together. He encouraged many other people to
hammer nails. If you were on a job site and weren't doing
anything, he would find you something to do. One of my brothers
lives in one of those Habitat houses to this day. He built most
of it himself.
James Earl Carter's legacy isn't the years he was President.
His legacy is the years after his Presidency. He will be
remembered as a GOOD MAN.
